I was aproached by a customer today that would like a monument sign, never done one before but would like to try my hand at it. So I have come to the best place I know to get help. I was thinking of some brick work below a LED back lighted letters. But what about foundation and such...

P.S. I'll even become a full time member if I get this job....
Not to twist anybodys arm or anything... [Roll Eyes] [Thanks]

There is plenty to think about here, first is:
Do you need a contractors license?
Do you have a contractors licence?
Any Code restrictions?
Do they have a permit process, and do you understand it, (it can get really complicated with location, easement, line of site)
Any issues with running electrical and do you have any experience with LED, concrete and brick.
In most of the structures below 6', they do not require engineering, butyou still need to take into consideration like, if it freezes, what is your frost line level, in some places it's 46"....on a 4-6' sign....that is deep.
Then digging the hole (sometimes you need a permit for that!) Tying re-bar, building the form and pouring it....I don't know, if it were me I would design them a good sign and sub it out to an experienced sign builder with the right skills, these signs aren't cheap, and a mistake can cost thousande....

Well thats my 2 cents...but I'm gonna want them back!

Hiya Shane,
Rick asks a lot of legit. questions. All of them need to be addressed before you get in over you head.
However, to make the answers a little bit easier for you, check out howardindustries.com. They manufacture modular EPS foam monuments in a variety of sizes and shapes.
I don't know if they can do LED, but they can complete just about everything else and drop it off at your door or the clients site - ready for you to install.
I haven't ordered one yet, but the product seems impressive.

Havin' fun,

Checkers

p.s. tell them that you heard about their site on this board!
