Hi Folks,
I had a call to do some Track and Field record boards for a local high school. They have requested two, approx. 4'x6' boards with varsity records...about 16 individual events and six relay events. Its a job I'm not quite sure how to price since it will involve a lot of layout. Also has anyone done any of these types of jobs that can share a photo? I would love to see what others have done. Thanks in advance.

Jill

Hi Jill
Depends what they want to spend. Sometimes they've got a budgeted amount. Is it indoor or outdoor? Where will it hang? Usually its high up in the gym. The school maintanence people will be installing it so make them happy - make it light. This will get you repeat business. Maybe use 1/4 AlumaCorr with some changeable letter tracks, you can get track accessaries from GEMINI. Make up your own nonstandard spaces for the names & times(repeat business). Maybe bigger spaces for the relays. Cut plastic to fit the tracks then apply vinyl names & times & dates as they order them. Year after year. You get the idea. I have done alot of business with MN school sports; signs, banners & some printing. Things they don't usually need bids for. Price them to make money. The key is to make it easy for them, they're buisy. Be sure they have your # handy for the repeat business. I'm sorry, I'm rambling on. There are so many things. I hope this helps. Oh! A biggy-be sure it is readable from the distance where the parents sit! They give the Athletic Directors the compliments, (repeat...).
The bad news is, in most cases you have to wait 30 to get the check. Good Luck!
