I just did my first banner - and boy was it big! Wondering if my price was right. It was a white 3 x 10 foot banner from sign warehouse and I applied three 8" words and four 6" words in blue vinyl for $125. The banner cost around $20 with shipping. It was a lot of work because I'm just learning but it turned out very good! What do y'all charge? Thanks.

Kind of hard to say. How did you arrive at your price? How much blue vinyl did you use and what kind of vinyl was it HP or intermediate?

hi Michelle,

yes, a 10' banner does seem HUGE... especially in a small shop (like mine). then you roll it up and it seems like nothing.

if you don't already have a copy, the "official sign contractors pricing guide" is a valuable estimating tool. for $7.50 you can get the little "pocket" edition, and at least you'll have something to go by. for a 3' wide banner they estimate about $24/linear foot, so your 10' banner would be $240.

pricing on banners is always tricky. one the one hand, it is a BIG sign. on the other hand, it is a CHEAP sign. what to do?

i'd probably show the "book" price to the customer and see their reaction... and be ready to jump in with "but i'll let you have it for $199." (or $175). sometimes the customer will just nod, and pay it. (they see it in a book, so it "must be true".)

the discount franchise shops often charge less than that, so i find i need to offer "extra" service (maybe a nicer design, or free delivery, or what-not).

Depending on what kind of design it is (sounds like this is a fairly simple layout) price could range from $180.00 to $250.00 in paint or vinyl I don't make any diference in price between the two

for along time I charged one price per ln.ft. for 2' banners another price per ln.ft. for 3' banners and so on and so on for 4' and more and I found the that was just too hard to keep track of all the prices esp. when I would get odd sizes like 8'x8' or so on so I changed over to a flat $7.00 per SQ. FT. for most basic banner jobs and anything much more custom or needed a bit more design time to get it just right I would just add on my extra T&M (time and matteral) to the base line of $7.00 per sq.ft. and found that to worked out very well. but for odd sized small banners say 2'x4' were there is not much sq.footage in matteral i go to a flat T&M rate inc. my design time.
The $7.00 per sq.ft. is with a one sided 10 oz. banner materal with intermed. vinyl and for a 2 sided banners I add 70% more for the 2nd side.
and for over the street banners 13oz. and the double block-out 2 sided banners with the hanging clips and reinforced corners i add the differance in the matteral cost.
depending on the customer (like a youth sports groups, boy or girl scouts or a special fund raser) or if the banner are very large i will add a 10-20 or 30% discout to the overall price depending on what I can afford to give away at the time.that is a very good word of mouth advertising thats builds good friendships with your customers and a nice standing in our community. and that keeps them happy and coming back for more but only if im able to afford to at the time

I quote a base price of $5.00 per sq. ft. for 1-color, text only up to 15 words.

On 2' x 4' & smaller banners I start at $50

On larger orders I may go below the sq. ft. price. 2nd color may increase price by as little as $10 or $20, but for shadows or anything increasing my overall material cost, & pass on that cost + mark-up.

This whole rap is available on the phone but quoting the charge for a logo usually requires seeing it, & what format I will be working from.
