I have a whole card/set of 9 Handover Signwriters Quills. These are 100% pure red sable, set in a real bird quill. Made in England. I bought these about 15 years ago from Rick Glawson. At the time good lettering quills were very hard to come by. Most sign supplies weren't handling brushes any longer. When I was first in the trade Montroy Sign Supply had a regular salesman that would stop by the shop I was working at every month. He had a big kit of brushes that you would pick out the brushes you wanted. Also in the LA area Izzy Posner was selling brushes. You could get some really great brushes. My favorite were Imperial Pencil Quills, browns for glass and trucks and greys for MDO. The greys were as smooth as the browns are today and they held a nice edge and didn't shed. Actually the browns were too fine. Todays greys are like lettering with straw. When I talked with Rick about this he said he had some English brushes that were really good. They were kind of expensive at the time so I only bought a couple. But when I tried them I went back and bought 3 sets/cards. The other 2 sets are in my kit oiled and ready to go, still good as the day I bought them. If you wash your brushes well (getting all of the paint out of the heal) they'll last a long time. So anyways, I've got a card of 9 brushes ranging in size: Small Duck • Duck • Large Duck • Small Goose • Goose • Large Goose • Extra Small Swan • Small Swan • Swan. The hair is long and action is snappy. They hold a great edge and pull a long line. I went to Handover's UK web site and they don't cary the larger sizes now. I don't know if you can get these in the US. I paid $200.00 for the card and am asking $200.00 plus $5.00 shipping. Call me at 408/445.2591 or e-mail me at jonharl@comcast.net. Thanks, Jon
