looks great Paul - what materials did you use there? Did you do that yellow sign to the left, also? -Carl

actaully that was chosen by the customer Very nice person but he insisted on an off white to make for better pictures. My pictures are not the best from a intel digital camera. Thanks for the compliment carl would love to see some of yours.
Oh and sorry I ddi not do the yellow sign on the left. The material is 1/8 inch aluminite bent and cornered. Another strange thing was he put brunt umber mixed with water on the sign to make it look used. Bankers can be a bit odd at times but this guy is a very very nice guy.

Looks nice Paul. Did you do the install too? I always wonder about that....as being a female....I seem to have to get help with the installs. (gotta eat more Wheaties I guess!!) I am working on an apartment sign a bit like the size of yours, and it has a cement base.

well that was an easy one to do because the posts and an existing sign where all ready there. all i did was make a box to fit over the top of the old sign. The customer wanted an environmential sign is that what you call it cheryl ? Gosh I am new to this biz I do need some help. Pretty good for a novice huh? I don t know what you think but doesn t the two post in combination with the main sign box look like an ice cream treat? kinda odd huh ?

Hey Paul, great work buddy, clean, easy to read, well done.

the only thing I might add is the suggestion that the posts may have been better closed in......this would give chunky, solid foundation for a very solid looking sign and improve the silhouette of the whole structure.

Keep up the good work.

why thank you rob and hey your input and others is what I want either very positve or very negative or anywheres inbetween. I did actually suggest we cover the posts with a timber framed flower box but to no avail unfornunately. Can you figure my customer actually wanted to put dirt on the sign but no flower box go figure [Wink] he must have felt kids would make dirt bombs and throw them at the bank windows I guess.

yes in case you didnt get the comet reference this sign was good enough for CBS television and a made for TV movie. My point being who would go against the orders of a high powered artist director of a major tv network. Maybe not the most fancy sign in the world but got that job done and I am richer for that. Which in some eyes here seems to be a bad thing.

Paul,

I'm not sure about anyone else but I am confused about your story here. First you tell us about this banker in New England who smeared burnt whatever all over the sign to make it look old, he's really happy, didn't want flower boxes, yada, yada, yada... Now you are telling us that this sign was made for a CBS movie of the week...

Care to clarify this for us?

Have a great one!

Well my point was that is have found the this Judging a sign at all to really be a little dumb. And not that you bruce did that with kenny thomas at all . What is good in one person eyes and an others is so subjective. Myself personally these sign I did for CBS are not great signs they are average. But the point being driven home here is someone pays you at the end of the day and that someone usually has a big influence on the design. So lighten up on the kenny s of this world people. You were there once.
I do believe in advancing my skill level and helping others do the same if I possibly can but you will notice bob hines is no longer here. Ask yourselves why is that ? In the space of a couple of weeks two new people are turned off. If you want new ideas and new blood and people to come out of the shadows of lurking go by the your letterehad code or rather make an amendment to the old saying if you can t say nothing nice about someone don t say it at all.
If this a self promotion board I am very happy for you because you are preaching to the converted.
I totally think the the issues were right that your panel brought up TOTALLY but frame it a little nicer ask in a question of what does the tect on the window say or e mail the fellow. Who knows you my have killed that young mans dream and that would be very sad.

I saw nothing wrong with what was shown here. I agree with your bottom line.

I am a little confused here though. What is your intent here, to try and bait negative comments? Why are you now today editing your posts?

I don't know why people try and get so dramatic in here. What purpose does it serve?

Gee- you sure taught me a lesson!

7000 plus registered people to this forum how many actually have posted? Then how many have posted twice? How many post on a regular basis?
How many just say well I see the same thing over and over again but I love the information. Baiting people for negative comments not at all if I taught anyone anything here be careful of how you say things. Oh by the way :unedited by paul taylor: (correct your spelling
they yell)

Guys, guys, guys...

Mellow out. Don't get so full of what is right that you can't see what is good.

I thought you might be interested in reading this web page:

http://www.letterhead.com/ubb-cgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=000997

...and you appear to have missed this in the long thread that followed "Kenny's" post...

Paul

I still don't understand?

Many people have posted work that I have drouled over.
I am no genius to the artwork of this board,

but you proclaim your piece as something of greatness..
(15 minutes of fame that is)(Film) OK!

Let it go my friend if you don't like to listen and learn from others.

I have found to respect most here as the value is very much worth the listening ear!

If you really keep it up you will learn about a deaf ear that will be had!

Many people that will type in front of the machine when you really need some info, will answer.

But others will stop because of your actions.

Show us some more of your work to inspire the greatness of this business.
