Hey all!

This is a CD that I made for my wife, Dana (Sign-a-saurus / Rocketsigntist), for Christmas. I had to wait to post it because we just had our gift exchange with my Mom and Pop last night. Couldn't let the cat out of the bag...

I did the designing in CAS-Mate ver 6.52, took the designs into CorelDRAW 8, then into Fireworks ver. 4 utilizing Eyecandy 2000.

This is my first real project done in Fireworks. I was impressed with the program (not with the price, tho... LOL!) and the ease that you can add special effects. It sure was fun...

This is the front cover.

This is the back tray liner

This is the CD label. Disk 2 looks identical except it is labeled "two"...

Thanks for letting me share!

Nice package design...I esp. respond to the fire imagery. Looks a lot, well, like fire. It's amazing how close we can get to the real thing now! ALong the same lines I thought you might like to try this "effect" (in photoshop, but can be duplicated in other programs, i.e. fireworks, corel, etc.):

Brushed metal look:

1. In Photoshop create a shape (box, cirle, fill a layer, etc)

2. Fill that shape with a color (try using a 30% grey, or med. navy blue, beige, etc.)

3. Under filter select noise, choose add noise, choose gaussian, select chromatic and an amount of 75 or so.

4. Now that it looks noisy, go into filter, choose blur and select motion blue. Making sure the angle is -90, adjust the difference until it looks like the brushed metal look you want.

5. Now you can add lighting effects, text, etc. Works realy well to mock-up "metal" signs for potential clients, or as backgrounds to Powerpoint presentations, etc.

Enjoy!

Bruce that is So wonderful!!!
Bet she was thrilled, I can make out some of the songs, looks like a really nice collection.

I made a similar CD for a special someone and did a cool Cd label and cover to go with it...it was a lot of fun, and the reciever was very touched.

Isn't it great when you can create your own magic?!!

Hi Bruce,

Very cool! I like!

Seein that you like doing kinda the stuff I like to do, you have to check out this link if you haven't already...http://www.actionxchange.com/

The site is called ActionXchange. It started as a few PhotoShop gurus coming up with 'actions' and just putting them out on the web for folks to use. The actions are special effects that can be done to text and images in PhotoShop but you don't have to figure out all the logistics, so to speak. It does it all for you. It's gotten so big that Adobe bought them out. All you have to do is register with your name, e-mail address, etc. But you won't get any junk e-mail. At least I haven't gotten any.

All you do is download the 'action' into PhotoShop and press "play". That's it. The program does everything that is programmed with that action. Best part is that it's Free! There are currently 4000 actions there. Check it out
