Here you go Mike. And man, what a killer job. You've got something there. Looks like real flames. Big step up from the regular flame jobs. Very nice work.

Thanks guys, I just love doing these fire jobs. these are all done with House of Kolor base coats and then cleared over so there is really nothing to do to take care of em except regular waxing after the 60 no-wax period. I've been airbrushing for 21 years now but its been the main focus of my business for the last 10 years.
one little side note on this job, because there is no hard lining to be done with the realistic fire there is no taping off the graphic as with nostalgic flame jobs, its done entirely free hand and because of that this particular job took 2 1/2 hours to paint both sides of the truck. then my clearcoat guy takes over and finishes. And thanks by the way for putting the pic here! I just can't figure this thing out! hahahah Mike

Those are some awesome flames!! I too checked out your web site, and loved everything there. I especially liked the ram head on the tailgate. I remember seeing that in a magazine a while back. I guess I took exception to that one because I used to own a Dodge Ram and now own a Dodge Dakota. Excellent!

funny you should mention the ram, I just went to the dealer that I did this fire one for to take some shots of it on the showroom floor and the owner of the dealership wants me to paint one of the 2002 red ones for himself with the ram bashing out like the white truck only this time he wants the horns to be chrome like its the emblem itself busting out of the truck hood and tailgate. I'll have pics of that one this weekend. Did I mention I love my job??!

each one of these fire jobs is different ( as in the amount of the vehicle covered ) but they average $3500.00 for a job this size but have gone up as high as $8,000.00 but, you have to take into consideration the cost for me to do one. because I don't do my own clearcoat, I pay a guy to prep the vehicle , mask and then clearcoat it , wet sand the clear, buff it, hand glaze it and then unmask and wash the vehicle. this costs me $200 for every body panel ( fender, hood etc.) that he touches. then there is the cost of the materials wich average around $350 per vehicle. so it sounds like a lot but the profit margin drops after you take out all the costs. so this job was $3500.00 minus $1200.00 for Don, then another $350.00 for materials that leaves a total of $1950.00. but I did it in 2 1/2 hours so that's not too shabby pay for the day! did I mention that I love my job???

Great stuff Mike...thanks for sharing your work both here and at your site, as I mentioned above, I think we are very lucky to have you Rod "Ticks" and Ray Hill showing really outstanding airbrush work, it must be a huge inspiration for those that dabble!

A "DOCTOR" probably would have charged MORE, and you have as much or more experience in your trade as he has in his........So why do people think we are ripping them off when we charge a FAIR PRICE for our work ? You are an INSPIRATION.........keep posting...looking forward to your next project.and thanks for sharing your price with us. Shep'
