Have you tried moving the the main text down with the botom of the M and A just above the top stripe and drop the slot bar and Chiroprator in front of the stripes? The Text sits too far out leaving a big space in the middle and nothing on the outside.

Is this a logo design or a 4 x 8?

This Will be a 4x8 alumalite sign. I will probably pain the aluminum navy blue though. I have a new rendition of it that I will post as soon as I can get it to work???

my two cents: move the title copy down some... thicken the white outline around mistretta ever so slightly... shrink those triangles just a bit & ad more bars top & bottom... just a thought ....

I would make Chiropractic much bigger. Bring it down some and enlarge. Not as long as the name, but bigger than it is. Also, space it a little on the rounded rectangle. The tops and bottom of the letters are touching the lines and causing a tangent. If you do this, it will fill up some of the negative space you are talking about. Also, I would use another color for the name instead of the background color. White, light gray, etc.
Good layout, just needs a little tweaking. I do alot of tweaking on my layouts. Never looks like it did when I started.

I would take the main copy & arch it with the envelope tool (corel draw)

Here's an idea. If you could get a vectorized copy of a spinal column, the various vertibrae that make up a spinal column have a definite curve to them. You could flip one image, and use it on the opposite side to give you 2 nice curves, and ones that RELATE to the profession as well. Most Chiropractors do a LOT of work relating to disorders of the spinal column...slipped discs etc. Just another possibility. Hope this helps.

ryan,
i would prioritize the copy differently.

i would focus on the service or product the customer provides.

black and grey scale...

Here is the new revamped version. The customer added some information which helped with the blank spots. I thickened the outline a tad around Mistretta and added some stripes around the pill.

Mark I thought the same thing about stressing the chiropractor ... but he is well known for his "name" in the town that he is in so he thought the same on the aspect of having his name larger.

Thanks for all the tips guys and gals

Ps. The pink around it is the color of the building. Hopefully the colors wont look too bad together.

I'm with Mark on getting the copy prioritized. Who cares if his name is well known in the town? I'd think he would want people who work in the town but live outside of the community to see the business. Also, people who are new to the community won't know his name either.
Then again, I know what it is like to have a customer who just needs to feed his ego...

Ryan, it looks much better now. I do agree with Mark and Bryan though, the Chiropractic needs to be bigger. Maybe if you extend the copy to where it is wider. And the name being the same color as the background, it would be more visible with a color change to a lighter shade of blue or white or gray, etc. I don't think I've ever had a line of lettering the same color as the background. It seems to blend in too much to me.
Just my opinion though.

another thought also ryan,
every layout i do for a sign or logo design, i start out in grey scale.

i learned from other sign people long ago that if it works in black and white it will work in color.

just like john has pointed out, not enough contrast when the letter color is the same as the background even though you have a white outline around it.

i like your font choices though.

good job buddy,

mark

This is what I was talking about Ryan. More contrast with the name in a lighter color. I also made the chiropractic bigger by extending the copy some, and sized down the phone number a little. You've got a really good layout there. It will make a great sign. These are just ideas to help you along.
What Mark says is very true also. IF it looks good in black and white, it will in color also.
I've gotten lately where I give my customers a black and white layout unless they ask for color.
That way they see the contrast through black and white, and if they leave the colors up to me, they will be better satisfied.

Thanks guys. I think I will change the primary copy to white instead of the blue. The only thing is... none of the text copy was the same color as the background? The background will be navy blue and the text was set in olympic blue? I did do a 1/4" spaced white stripe around Mistretta though where it gaps to show the background color inbetween the primary copy and the outline. (again the quality of the jpeg is decieving)

John you really do awesome work I love all the layouts on your site! I appriciate yours and everyone elses help on this. I'll post another proof when I am finished ... jeez ya got me changin again!
