Well, I have been putting this off for a while, and decided it was finally time to put out a sign for myself. Here's what I have so far, any input would be appreciated.

I will probably either do a gradient as shown in the pic (black fading to dark gray at the top), or a marble-like finish.

Anyway, help me out, it's hard designing your own sign.

Hi Shane!

The sign is much more legible now that you've lost all the small copy from your first layout. Consider moving the ampersand up beside "Signs", eliminating the negative space between "Signs" and "Screen Printing". This would give you some room to move the bottom group of copy up, it's a little too close to the bottom.

Just curious...Your website gives a very modern, high tech sort of impression yet your sign has an Art Nouveau feel to it. You have a cool logo on your website, why not use that and create a uniform image for yourself?

Just my opinion.
Have fun!

Shane,

In my estimation, the very first flash page of your website would be a really cool looking sign.
Black, with spiral watermark behind the peacock blue lower case lettering.
Very simple ... and even put the words depicting what you do, as they are when that flash stops.

If this is a Main ID sign, nothing more needs to be listed on it but your name and a brief description of what you do.

Don't clutter it up and stay consistant with your look ... once you've established it.
Personally, I like the one that was created for you on your site.

Just my objective opinion.

Thanks for the replies,

See, I wanted to use my logo on the sign, and in fact, i did a mock-up sign a little while back with the logo. I just wasn't that crazy with how it turned out. These signs are only going to be 2' x 3' , so all of the points on readability are well taken.

Not really sure what to do at this point. I can't ignore the fact that a unified image is very important. At the same time, getting the logo in there, and having a sign that's easily readible from the highway is a concern.

Back to the drawing board, thanks for all the suggestions!
