Client hasn't approved this yet, but this is what I came up with as an updated logo for a Kitchen/Bath company who has a reputation as an upscale/reliable business.

Customer wanted to retain the 'cloud' in some fashion.... I thought adding some 'sunrays' brought a warmth to the overall look.

I went for clean, classy, and contemporary.... the three 'C's.' :-)

I am hoping he goes with this - I really like it. Feel free to 'weigh-in.'

Vast improvement. Not sure why they are locked in to the cloud thing at all.

Theirs reminds me of a bathroom setting with steam...... Your's feels happy and a bit more breakfast and sun-shiny. Yours fits better and seems intentional. Gotta love that LHF Essendine

Thanks guys... here's some more renditions with various tweaks - Jill had the suggestion to change the 'sun rays' to a golden yellow, which I like....

The one with the lighter panel works best for me.

Don't design past your a lotted estimation, like I seem to sucker myself into.

I would be pleased with any of the options you've shown over the old one...that is a funky lookin cloud if ever I saw one.

Although they all work well if I were to pick one over the other I would side with Bob on the lighter panel...I think it does 2 things...firstly when I reduce the design way down for viewing...which I always do because I get a better feel of how it will read as a single composition and from a distance...I read ""KITCHEN and BATH" much more easily off the light blue...also the light blue panel is lighter in weight and does not compete for dominance with "McDaniels" as the dark panel does...with the light panel I focus more on "McDaniel" which is now the boldest element...secondly...and maybe most important...the lighter panel carries the overall theme around the composition better...it has the same airy feeling that the upper cloud and sun ray convey.

The differences are minor...but it was interesting for me to examine what were the reasons for my personal preference...I think this is good practice and reminds me to apply the same reasoning process when I create a design...so thanks Todd...I like this type of post...we can all help each other.

One other nice thing is going on with that option, Rusty is the same light blue that is in the sky graphic, is being echoed in the panel below. This color echo draws your eye through the entire comopsition.
Todd, if they do not go with it, it is because of some piddly personal preference and not sound design choices. If pushed print yours and theiers out on a page and make them view it from across the room. Then ask which design will most effectivly serve their need? Wait for them to answer.

Exactly Bob...another consideration is the subliminal message conveyed by color...we want our kitchens and bathrooms clean and the light blue conveys that idea better than the dark.

Todd,

I like the very first one with the rectangular base. Looks like it
has " stability " ,
I prefer the more yellow sun rays to the reddish ones on initial design.

Overall very nice !

Outstanding improvement of their original. It is nice how you took the original idea and extounded on it to produce an extremely well balanced and professional design.

Well done, sir!
