Some of you might recall the little landscapes I started painting in photoshop back last summer...well this is my first attempt at one with a real brush in my hand and no photoshop tools to fall back on...I knew it would be a learning experience and I knew it would tough for me to pull off...well both of those things proved to be true...maybe I should have tried something a little smaller for my first time...these 2 are 30"x52"...probably not a big challenge for you wall dogs and mural painters but I've never done anything like this before...I struggled with it and having a dead line meant at a point I had to just let it go...though my lack of experience left me often frustrated...in the end I liked the way it turned out.
They wanted a landscape idea from me so this is the pic I sent them back...they already had the raised planter built so I used photoshop to throw in some bushes and flowers...I also photoshopped out a telephone pole that clutered up the sky to the left.

Great painting Rusty, now you should feel comfortable to do more. Forget photoshop, you do not need it. Bill

It was not until painting the 3rd tree that I happened on a style or technique that I felt comfortable with...and this technique is something I think I can improve on with some tweeking ...I probably could learn much more about rendering leaf textures if I actually practiced on a real tree rather than something from my imagination.

I keep coming back to this one because of it's classic look.
Rusty, at any moment I expect to here the horns and barking, seeing Dan's fox hunters emerge from among the trees jumping the low stone wall beyond. Tally-Ho, Boys, Tally-Ho!

Rusty - you are a very humble man in regards to your artistic skills. This is not only good - but in my opinion; the sign structure, the painting, the colors, the implementation - are EXCELLENT.
I'd love to watch you paint landscapes like this - landscapes have never been my forte... although I haven't tried many.
