This is a panel I created in a panel exchange. It's three layers of HDU. The body of the leaf was gilded with copper leaf and then distressed, followed by a coat of burgundy stained polyurethane. On other la yers I used metallic paints and acids to give it a patina on. The little squares on the corners are glass baubles from the dollar store that I etched. When I placed them in the recesses though they appeared darker than I wanted them to so I put gold leaf on the back side and that helped them to "light" up.
