Here is a job in progress. It measures 8'x8' and is painted with Sherwin Williams Superpaint. I will paint another one this weekend during our Annual Antique Days. This is on the west wall of our local museum.

Ian, I want to tell you that I don't mind bricks as long as the mortar joints are smooth. The brick layer that bricked in these windows, I could choke.
He really raked the joints deep, so it takes some more time in covering. Other than that, I really like the texture that the brick gives to a mural.

Nice Michael, This seem to be a lot more common these days. The sepia tone murals. I haven't done one as of yet.
Could you please explain the process a little more to us?
Did you mix 1 color and blend white into it for the different values. Or did you premix several shades of the same color before you start?
What color did you start with?

What I did John was pick 4 shades of Sherwin Williams paint and had them mixed. The colors were 6082 Cobble Brown, 6101 Sands of Time, 6106 Kilim Beige and 6083 Sable. I had them mixed flat and then had flat white and flat black on hand. I first painted the wall with Sherwin Williams Loxon masonry primer and then coated the whole background with the Kilim Beige. I projected the image with my overhead projector and the next day started painting. If I felt I needed it darker I mixed the flat black in and went with that as far as tone values. Hopefully that answered some of your questions.

Here is the finished wall. I didn't like the plain corners, so I painted these on there.

OK, Michael....housemate....You're the one that was goin' around telling everyone in Pontiac that we were sharing the shower! I couldn't live that one down either. And...sorry, I don't know how my post got up twice. Couldn't get it off though, when I saw it there.

On another note...those monochromatic murals ain't as easy as they look, huh? They are a fun challenge to give depth and light.

Sharing a room is one thing compared to conserving water, right?

Fire red, maybe. I thought a purple one would of been better.
