notice the magazine ad has sweat drops coming down and slightly different color, the original has no drops so I just made it as close to the original as I could....
This is something that I can teach folks in Dixie in November...You bring a panel cut out to shape of the bottle, and I'll show you how to do it...like Bob Ross.."Happy Bottles!"
If you want the pattern for this a bottle, send me an email with your address and I'll send you a pattern.....you cut it out, sand it, prime it, and bring it to McCall 'Bama and we'll have us a good ol time!!! Then you have a smaple to put on your wall, and start other projects that are simular! See!? Ain't it FUN!!!!

I'll have to dig up some of the machines I did for Pepsi Co. If you ever need any vintage Pepsi designs (or current ones for that matter) I've got a ton of them. All approved for use by Pepsi. Mountain Dew was First Bottled here in Birmingham and A big load of the stuff I did had that HillBilly on it singing about how the Dew "Tickles his Innards" LOL

Not around here, pal. There's a company out of Salt Lake that will do a 16'x32' billboard wrap around face for $1,475.00 They ship all over the northwest and even sell direct to end users. They have a 24' wide photo quality paint printer that is virtually impossible to compete with.

Pierre, That is all Ronan bulletin enamel on metal.
Me and Mike were talking when he came through Montgomery. I told him I miss the days of painted pictorial. A hamburger painted so you can see the texture of the ground beef and the way light plays on a dollop of ketchup and a slice of tomato. these contrast of these elements could be exagerated by the painter with a brush and paint and be a lot more appetizing than a digital print.
When you get around people like Mike Meyer then the old trade comes alive.

Mark, this is the stuff of the true signwriters. Workshops in these arts will only benefit those who are already illustrators looking to expand their own abilities. You and Mike are old school, and the ones who truly appreciate you are those who recognize the difference. Unfortunately the general buying public in the main don't know or care about the differences. The almighty dollar is the unfortunate determining factor. I happen to be among those who are fans.

I agree whole heartedly Pierre. I am just glad I started out as a sign painter. That experience is very helpful when it comes to layout and design.

I agree and disagree with the Montana madman.....
DISAGREE The last 75% of jobs I have cranked out were all hand done. SO the good old days ARE still here. I AGREE with the majority of the general public in which they want cheap and now.
It's all in the attitude and passion Pierre.
cases in point...Dan Sawatsky..he does what he loves and they come LOOKING for him! Mike Jackson, sold his business in Oklahoma, took a year looking around the United States on where to work, choose Jackson Hole, totally turned things around and now it's his signature everywhere. Noel Weber, grew up in Chicago, went to Denver, painting signs like everyone else, got in with a bunch of other guys who liked signs...BOOM Letterheads are born. Noel breaks out to Boise Idaho...was there Gold Leaf glass signs there before him? Yes, maybe in the 1930's...he brought it back and still has people wanting HIS WORK.
I will not succomb to run over the cliff like all the other rats into the meat grinder.
"workshops in this meduim, this "Day and age" will go as far as YOU want it to go!" It 's not just illustrators that apprieiciate it..there are many out there who can learn from it, and make the "ALMIGHTY DOLLAR"
The old school way is good but not perfect, hell yes, I will go slap vynull on a truck in 10 minutes and take the money as oppsed to a 4-5 hours hand lettered truck, when some other vynull jockey was gonna get the money anyway!
The 3 people mentioned above choose to make it GO.
This is my philosofee. I have seen it work.
I look at it this way..There are alot of people here that would like to learn some old school things that people like Mark and myself can show them...some are too shy to ask, some want to just watch,,,,,fine, cool. ALl I want to do is pass on what I know. I don't know it all, that was a cartoon character on the Rocky and Bullwinkle show. The pictures of what you are doing in the boonies in Montana is some really craftsman type work Pierre! I am in awe, seriously! But I'm not saying "You won't do that around here pal" ? Ta hell you can't! Yes you can!
COme to a meet Pierre, I bet we could have a good time...I personally invite you to Mazeppa next February..I know you have a wealth of knowledge to share!
Keepin it positive in Mazeppa....
no more OOF and ME because Rosemary doens't like that..Sorry Rosemary, I'm just makin fun..

Mike, when can I come up? I want to be first inline! Lot of the people I have been doing business with ask me what printer I'm running, and thats the client. I tell them that I have a HP desktop ink jet and they look at me funny. I have been telling people that Im going in reverse. I want to learn everything about hand lettering and do it with skill from days of old. Not to say anything about digital printing, I think its great just not my cup of tea.

Nice job Mike. When you gild does your hair stand straight up from runnin'yer gilders tip thru it? The 7-up logo looks embossed on the front of the box. Was that there or did you highlight it with white to make it so?
