This is the result of the 6 day workshop at Aliento Glass in Santa Fe that Kelly Thorson, Susan Banasky and I took from Bill Heug in the beginning of Feb. There are all sorts of bells and whistles on this: sand blasting, glue chipping, painting, mica, gilding, patience, damar vernish, and attaching a print to glass with varnish. Bill had painted the original of Cleo with his daughter as the model... All VERY cool stuff and all questions answered (so far) This stuff is highly addictive! Have no idea at the moment where in the house Cleo is going to live- but she's finally here! (btw- the background of the glass is clear- the orange is just a throw to be a backdrop for the photo)

There is probably about 60 hours of work in that piece Jake and we were told the suggested value of the piece was around $4000+. Now if you don't buy Cat's piece may I suggest you take the trip to Aliento and do the course. Believe me, it was worth every penny!

Time to start your museum Cat!! That's really pretty, and I enjoy the color scheme; looks like the roaring twenties going into the thirties, va va voom! Gorgeous work! I bet you had a blast.

Very impressive work. It makes my brain hurt just thinking about all those different tricky techniques! Stuff like that is so intimidating to me. Whatever you do, DON'T hang it beside your Velvet Elvis! Love.....Jill

I too have taken a few courses at the school, well just about every one of the courses over the last 4 years, and I have to say they have been great. Bill is top in his class and loves to teach and it shows. The Cleo Piece is an intense project, but well worth the time, effort, lack of sleep, and sharing of talent. Glad to see such a great piece displayed
the Aliento school is a great source of knowledge and talent, with great reach into other knowledge pools.
