So I am starting up a website for my own freelance design/art/illustration etc, and am trying to come up with a logo. I've done so many at the shop I work at, but for my own, I just can't make my mind up. The name is Chris OBrien Design (.com) and these are what I've come up with so far. Also I am not sure about the colors. Any opinions or different ideas would be greatly appreciated!

These all just make me feel cold and unwelcome...or a cell under a microscope awaiting disection. Something warmer, more flowing, less harsh. A logo doesn't have to be just a "symbol" but a symbol of who you really are.

I really like the first one. Could the "O" be bolder? It's a little frail.
Put some clear text along with any of those & they could work.

Can we see your idea of what the text may look like?

I like those ideas on the left and the one Bender mentioned the best. Michael, good job on a sample logo.

Chris, I see the CO in all of them, but I don't like the thingymajigs on the right quite as much, because I'm left wondering what the rest of the blob on the right is supposed to represent. Although maybe you could change the color scheme a little and market the Headache Saving Qualities of your company.

 -

BTW- I get it now... C hris O' brien D esign... Still like the others better though. I guess the one Michael and I chose is the only one without the 'D' represented... don't know if that matters.

It seems a little too mechanical, so I went 180 degrees around and got this...

I should have also posted what I had in mine for type styles. I know the signature thing isn't the easiest to read, but I plan on having ChrisOBrienDesign.com somewhere on the cards in a legible typeface. And if they got to the website, they should already know my name. Thanks for the input so far. I like the globe idea a lot but not sure if it's too disjointed from the style of the text I plan on using.
(edited: Ray I really like the script, it's funny because that's sorta what I had been planning on for the main text to give it some life.)

I like the last design you posted. It's very simple but has a great look. Even though you'll have the name somewhere else, I would still make it easier to read.

When I see COD I think Cash On Delivery. Just thought that was a negative connotation.

I don't mind the jigsaw idea in the original post, but I'd be making the 'pills' look more obviously like C O B, rather than C O D.
Then you could have a 'piecing it all together' slogan.
My 2 cents!

edited to add- nice work Arthur- and the positive/negative effect in the text is good too.

Chris - funny you showed the full design utilizing the "CO" as the 2nd one over from the upper left....as that is the one I thought was the most effective too.

I think your layout is very close to perfect with the exception being your signature "Chris O'Brien."

No offense, but I'd change that to a more pleasing looking hand type script as I think your signature at a quick glance reminded me of the dreaded Brush Script somehow....

Other than that - very classy.
