I spent yesterday at the shop working on some more mugs.. I use the okidata 5200 with dye sub toner, glossy transfer paper, cactus mug wraps, and a toater oven ..
here is a few pictures.. I have fun doing the mugs and the customer are really loving them.. tommorow we have shot glasses and beer steins coming in to dye sub.. and I have been doing plates too..
Ive really discovered that having the ability to make these items in house has been a real add on for our sign business, and the customers love the turn around times and the fact they can just get a few and not need to order 100's.. altho we do have an order right now for 100 mugs, 100 plates, 100 mouse pads and 100 t-shirts. that we are doing all in house.. cha ching..

Wow Sue, those are all great! I like YOURS the best.
Isn't great to find something fun~ that you love to do, and get paid well for?!
I just gotta ask, what the heck is a "cactus mug wrap"?

thank you.. yes i like mine the best too as its full coverage and i love the juicy drop graphics.. ive been using them for alot of mouse pads too..
A cacus wrap is a thing that you wrap around the mug after you tape the dye sub transfer on.. You tighten the wrap down to apply pressure then you put them in the oven.. (or toaster oven in my case) and actually cook them at 400 deg. for 15 mins.. the high temp allows the sub dye toner to turn to gas and the presure presses that gas into the mug to dye it.. its really cool and actually makes it very perm.. they are even dish washer safe..
after i take them out of the oven i take the wrap off right away and then leave the transfer on till the mug cools.. and ta da.. a beautiful mug.. lol

That is fantastic Sue! I looked into getting into dye sub but the wife thought it was too much money for what she thought would be nickles and dimes, inventorying a bunch of different items to do the work on, etc. I thought it would be a great way to expand our product line. I guess I'm just an idiot, LOL.

Those are really cool Sue. We also do dye sublimation, but I have a hard time selling it in this area. People want the cheap, cheap! Although I am currently working on a project for a company, doing a Wall Mural with a time line thru it. 50 years of pics. So I am going to sublimate the pictures onto ceramic tiles.

Sue, I like them all expecially the fruit mug.
I collect fruit crate labels and cigar labels.
They have beautiful art in them.

using that dreaded Algerian font, condensed, for your name & address on your mug- ugh-one line of algerina is bad enough for me, let alone two! I'd try for some nicer font if it were me!
(no offense intended, I'd like to think we could make a go of dye sub sometime)

Ricky.. we have found it a nice add on for the business.. I basically have a supplier that is within one days UPS from me so other than mugs and mouse pads i dont keep alot of stock.. .. And we actually get some rather large orders at times.. I have an order Im working on now for 100 plates, 100 mugs, 100 shirts and 100 mouse pads..
Sam.. Yes i love fruit crates too.. I would love to find some royality free fruit crate art that i could make into tile murals.. I think those would be sooo cool..
Ian.. Yes i know its not a great font.. Putting any text on the mug was kinda an afterthought after about 14 hours at the shop that day.. .. An I just picked any font that was at the top side of the list .. hehe... Also tho.. one reason i picked it was to show the fine lines that the dye sub could do sharply.. as we have had customers ask about that...
Ive been told i have to learn to drink my coffee left handed so no one can see the font.. lol
