I had posted a question on the main board about how to use stains on sandblasted signs. Here's the sign I did. (letters and border are 1-shot). Sign is 12" x 6', western red cedar.

Scooter, I use latex and stains on wood signs now. The oil will harden and crack and chalk over time.

thanks for the nice comments.

i didn't paint the posts because I didn't do the installation. (if you look closely, you can even see that they haven't screwed in the #14 screws all the way, so the little wood plugs haven't been put in yet, either.)

Install sucks! unpainted posts. Two screws in the border and two in the background! None covered or painted out.

Sign looks good and the colors work. The only thing is the installation as the others here have stated.

When ever I have a customer that wants to do the installation himself I usually supply the finished posts pre-drilled so they are properly spaced. In this case I would have had the posts moved in about 12" from the ends of the sign.
