A current fad amoung street rodders is the "worn look". They build a car really nice and then make the outside look like it's all faded and worn. This 48 Ford pickup was first painted an off white. They then painted it a blue. The blue was sanded until the white showed through. It was topped off with a stain clear. The owner wanted striping and scallops in silver and red to look faded. I striped it as I normally would using HOK urethane. I then took a cloth and dampened it with Rapid Prep and rubbed it over the striping to make it look faded. I used my fingernail in spots to approximate rock chips. The interior is all glossy.

Very interesting George - - Fender was selling brand new Stratocaster's that were purposefully produced with tarnished knobs, scratched and rubbed off paint on the body, and fake worn spots down the fretboard...all for a price of $1200 +.
I thought it was a joke when I saw one....but nope...I guess it's the rage with some folks.
