Ok here are the 2 gifts that have driven me nuts the past 2 days! Remember, I am a newbie at this, so they are not perfect!!!
The letters are gilded with 23 1/2 k gold leaf, the chipping (yes, you will notice it did not chip well above the R in Rochow!)is silver leafed, there are a few tiny abalone inlays, & varigated leaf also, oh, & copper too, thanks to a gift of copper leaf from Jilly at Dixie!
You can also see a couple of "black spots" where my back up showed through a few holidays, but you know what? I am thrilled anyway!
Next time I will NOT hurry! ~and thanks to all of you I was bugging while I panicked!

Looks pretty snazzy to me! As much as I love looking at this type of thing, I would be bald from pulling my hair out if I tried to do it. Really takes dedication. Just think, 6 weeks ago you didn't know this technique and look at you now! Impressive. Love....Jill

You're way ahead of me Bobbie. My first test piece is still sitting here with the first gild and no backup. Nice work. You are on your way to cool glass work.

Those are great Bobbie!!! It is so good to see you carrying the torch. You can always scrape off the backup that showed thru and touch it up easy enough. I'm glad you didn't let these techniques intimidate you too much.

Good work, Bobbie. (Next time, I'd like to see Rochow kerned a bit wider, or maybe the black outline a bit narrower- the touching outlines make it a bit harder to decipher the old english, to me...)

I bet they were impressed! I know you were in a rush, but you pointed out a large area that didn't chip. Next time you can do a second chip to fix that. Just mix up some more glue and repeat the original process. How did your glue work in the end? Looks good fromthe pictures. It looks like you learned a lot and produced a couple of sweet panels too. Good on you!

It certainly does not look like the work of a beginner, excellent job. Just think, you can do anything you put your mind to.

P.S. Bobbie, next time, when you do a leafy scroll type like the Jesus one, try and blend a bit of asphaltum or browny paint with the oilsize and paint some shadows & depth into the leaf curls before tacking the variegated copper leaf on to it. I think you'll like the result! It gives the leaves depth, and the stems roundness.

Bobbie, They are breathtaking. I really like the scrolls and the Jesus piece. It's amazing. You are really dedicated. I'd love to learn that technique. You are a beginner? Wow.
