Kelsey,

There are some artists out there who set the standard and you might want to check out their stuff...

Dave Stevens does some of the best pin up art I've ever seen.

Alberto Vargas set the standard for years in Playboy magazine.

If you want to get a better grasp on this kind of illustration, I'd recommend getting a copy of "Burne Hogarth's Dynamic Anatomy". It gives not only a good study of the human form, but shows how the male and female structures vary in not only shape, but movement.

 -

My take on it...from a quick pencil trace and scan.
I repositioned her legs to give it a more realistic look and pointed her pinky finger up some to add femininity.
A little more lighting.
...nuts...

I need sleep.

Ray....
Very nice rendering on his wife portrait.
Great example of depth and skin tones.
Well done.

I think Kelsey is getting a crash course on this one!

My mind wanders. And that's not a good thing, 'cause it's too small to be out there alone.

Very impressive Ray, although I would have to say I could only wish my wife spent that much time in the gym. I definitely understand what you mean now by getting more of a 3/4 view on the face and adding more depth. I'm still young and learning, but I think my next one will be a lot better due to this thread.

I think we should keep this subject alive...I'll bet many people could use drawing tips like these.
