This is the other side of me, or maybe just the other side of this side of me. I have prepared an artist statement for publishing and going on the rear of my prints and originals which will hopefully explain what I am doing. It is after the photos of which I have 8 so far. These are of Greta Garbo.
Unforgotten
Artist Statement:
I have been interested in the Art Neu Veau and Art Deco Era for most of my life. I have always felt a desire to be a part of it, and always felt that I would be, but until recently didn’t know which artistic direction to pursue. I have no living references to work from, which is so important to an artist. For me, antique photography will be my guidance.
My “Unforgotten” collection contains original hand airbrushed renditions of original photography. I have decided not to limit my art to any one subject, but rather to portray the jewels and rascals and their moment in time. Some are famous photos, and some rare photos of famous people. They come from movie stills, movie promos, postcards, private collections, and family archives. In most cases the paintings are as close to the original photo as I could possibly get, but in many, the artwork has been enhanced to restore what the aging of the photo left behind.
These paintings and limited edition prints are published for your enjoyment, and intended to stir an emotion within you that may have been stored away for many years. I have chosen to create an art form that the owner will enjoy as much as I enjoyed creating it. These were real people who had a tale to tell, with art forms and talents of their own. They were significant to so many of their time. They have given us so many reasons to pursue life to the fullest.
So, enjoy, and try to live your life so that in some way, large or small, you too will be “Unforgotten”.

Thanks folks, Compliments from peers like you all, are really what has kept me going over the years. The prints are going to be "giclee" which is a form of inkjet production on fine art paper with specialize inks. They will be waterproofed and displayed without glass to exemplify the origninals as closely as possible. I might end up doing a fine art paper print that would be matted if their is still demand is in that direction. Again, thanks for you comments. Jack

Thanks again, Here's another twist to the collection featuring famous authors, I have done this one and Hemingway at 30. I realize that the bird has little detail, but that is the way the original photo portrayed it and I am trying to replicate the photo as closely as possible.

(PS I'd rather stare at that top pic of Greta Garbo all day than Alf above!) Great- you're setting some standards let's hope others can aim for!
