This is an Acrylic Painting on Canvas I did recently......
I built a "Shadow Box Frame" and concealed a small fluorescent lamp inside.......the area except the lights and the Sky was "Blacked Out".......
(Sorry about the quality of the photo.....)
With the lamp on....everything "Glows" including all the lights........

If that is truly a painting...you are truly the best! Nice job!
I always held a special appreciation for photo-realistic illustrators. Some people say, "Well, if it looks just like a photo....why not just take a photo?"
But I always thought, "Hey, if a guy is so skillfull and technically good as to be able to create the illusion of photographic quality in paint...then he is in a class by himself and can paint anything, legitimately without his talents being questioned!"
Nice work Arvil!
Chuck Close was one of my favorites as I studied art history in college....here's a link...take special note to some of the close-up textures as you click the "numbers" at the top of the page:
"IF" that is truly a painting.......?????? There's no "IF" about it........!!
Like he said......."It's an acrylic painting on canvas...."
Shep "IS" in a class by himself and his Talents definatly should not be questioned....as you say .
Obviously you are not familiar with Sheps Artwork.....His colored pencil renderings make most others airbrush work look like childs play........
Try checking out "Sheps' website..........and if you want to promote Chuck Close, start a new thread......this one is about Shep and what HE does......!!
Thank You...cj

And thank everyone who looked at this thread and took the time to respond.......
I confess that Automotive Art is my passion.....maybe if I did every painting using 'Orange Paint" and did them on Flat Banner Material....and hung them from poles........in NYC....and they were all alike.......who knows then I may become a Millionair as well......LOL.....LOL.........LOL........
However "Art is in the eye of the beholder"......
BTW I posted another sample....."Titled Class of 55"............
I may have posted this one here before...Any comments???????????........pro or con.

This is called repartee....in the context of this sentence, I don't understand how it could be misconstrued?! My "if" was not accentuated as you portray it to conjure any form of doubt. Reading beyond the first 6 words should have clarified this.
I was (I thought) making an obvious statement complimenting his incredible ability - - in the same vein as the old commercial who's tagline was, "Is it real...or is it Memorex?!"
So, to clarify.....let me reword it by saying, "Shep - you're work is outstanding - you've added another admirer to what must be a long list."

Todd, "If" you thought this was a photo........then I take it as the highest compliment you could pay...
(On some "Street Shows" I have a hard time selling some of my Art.because most people think it is only photos...and don't even give it a second look..and keep on walking)
Even when I have an Easel set up...and I am actually doing the Painting...??????? !!!!!!!Some ask how I got the "Picture" on the Canvas....lol lol

Arvil....I can't say it strongly enough....guys like Chuck Close (hyper-photorealism artists) are my idols.
As I posted above:

The talent required to paint photorealistically is talent of the highest order....and my "if" was nothing more than a play of words followed up by a very deserved compliment.
I hope it came through that way to you Arvil...
I have a buddy I went to college with in the next town over...and he can paint almost that good...but I still think you have it over on him from what I've seen.
Please post more of your stuff...or better yet...I'll try to see what you have on your site.
Have a good one....you've got an awesome gift there my man.
