Well since I have been slow I decided to paint my daughter's room. She's only been asking me for about 3 yrs. now!! I have never done this but I am very pleased with it so far considering I had no help and have never seen anything like this done before. The only part I really hate is the butterfly. It just looks silly. But my daughter wanted it.

This is not completed just yet, as Karen said, I still plan to add some flowers and more detail around the grass to make it less plain.

Critiques are welcome!

It's fine, Amy!
You have some nice depth with that road to the castle.

Beautiful job Amy!!!! [Smile] The butterfly is great...just throw in a few flowers and he'll seem much more at home [Smile] Pick up some of those colors from her bedspread and flower power away!

Looking good, I hope more critters are on the way.
That's an excellent way to open up a room and add some fun to it.

Nice, Amy! I really like what you did with that road.

If it was me, I'd add some darker shadows to the castle. I have the same tendency to use soft contrasts and usually have to force myself to go darker, but it really gives it more of a 3D look.

Looks great, add a few animals as well, Bambi, rabbits and birds, maybe put a hole in the tree, add an owl, Maybe a real picket fence against the wall, then Paint grass on top of that as well... he he I'm sort of making good natured comments on this one because this looks like a Mural I did 10 years ago for a customer, and that is how I finished the job, you talk about the Depth a Picket fence about 24 inches High gives the room.

Good Luck Amy

I like it that the castle is so far in the distance as to not need much more detail . . .it's sort of dreamy-foggy-like...

The flowers and butterflies will add just the right amount of colour!

I bet Amber loves it!!

Emily wants her room done in all basketball... [Eek!] [Roll Eyes]
Before that it was horses . . .before that it was . . .

LOL. I've never done anything in there yet though . . .I'm always suggesting posters and such in case she changes her mind again real soon . . . [Wink]

great job Amy, better then I would expect if I took on a challenge like that, & of course it doesn't need anything... but if Bill gave me a suggestion on adding highlights & shadows on my work... I don't care if it was on my doghouse, I would want to rise to the challenge for the sake of learning... just like I fully expect Amy will want to do judging by the appetite for knowledge, skill, & experience I've seen from her over the years. And besides... what a perfect excuse to make a model castle out of papier-mache to study the shadows for this project & then add to the decor on the other side of the room. [Smile]
