This was a fun project I did for my parents.

Mom decided to turn a spare room into an office, and decorate it to look like an old bank. She wanted to make the closet door look like a safe.

Dad covered the door with black Sintra (Celtec). I designed and applied Florentine Swirl SignGold lettering and scrollwork. Then put several coats of spray clear on it, so it would by shiny.

Oh, by the way, in case you're wondering, their last name is 'Ferry' - that's why it says "Wells Ferry Safe Co."!

That is neat!!!
And it's a good idea too!
Mom & Dad must be real proud owner of that safe.

I never tried to spray clear on sintra.
got to try it. I never thought of clearing on sintra... Thanks for sharing!

I did similar thing on the real thing in a small bank in Kingston, Arkansas that was restored to its original very old timey look. Its a large round safe, the original, and now sets in the lobby near the window. Lobby probably is about 6 feet by 16 feet. This is a very small building that has the false front and looks just like the old buildings in the old cowboy movies. Cant find a picture of the lettering.

Hi Dana, ...very nice job!, and "creative" too. Where did you get the designs for scrollwork? Is that a real handle on the door? What kind of clear did you use, and was it gloss or matte? Did your Mom put in some of those "banker lights" as well? How far did she go into the "bank mottiff" for spare room? Sounds like a kick, post some more pics of the room if she went "all-out".

The scrollwork was out of one of the VectorArt cds (I love those things!) The handle is a real door knob handle. The tumbler is real, too, but doesn't turn.

We used up 2 cans of glossy Krylon clear (afterwards I wished I had brought my quart of sign clear from home and used a foam brush instead.)

As far as the rest of the room - the carpet is supposed to be there tomorrow and where it goes from there will be anybody's guess... you'd have to know my Mom...
