I finally joined on as a resident and thought I would share one of my projects.....and see if I can actually get the image upload thing to work.
I painted this maple kitchen floor logo about a year ago. It is all hand-painted with lettering enamel and top-coated with water based satin clear. So far it is holding up like new. Unless you have steel plated knee caps I would not recommend doing too many of these...
I am hoping to get this project sent into Sign Builder Illustrated Magazine as soon as things slow down??

What a great idea, and beautifully executed. Can you tell us how the idea came to be?

Forget Sign Builder, that deserves to be in Signcraft. Very nice style you have there, and masterfully executed. Did you design that layout, or is that a copy of old crate art?

A friend of mine called saying she wanted to paint something on her kitchen floor. She said, like a border or a faux rug....the first thing I thought of was the old fruit crate labels. It just seemed to fit her taste and style.
I submitted about 50 ideas to her and she picked the one that best matched her interior color scheme. The grey border matched the new concrete countertops. The darker green matched the wall color and the light yellow matched the ceiling color. The Dark red of the bird also matched some of the trim work.
It took about 50 hours to paint and just about killed my knees for ever. Now I know why the old boys painted on the ceilings instead!
Really, I wish I could get their whole house in a magazine...it is really nice.

Don't just send your pics to sign mags! Send out a few pics to "Better Home and Garden" type mags and local newspapers, too. The right crowd would probably pay big bucks for that service.
Interior designers...or maybe the local flooring place that specializes in hardwood might be interested in selling your services for a percentage.
40-50 jobs like that per year at $5K each would buy alot of kneepads and painkillers.

Great work Dale;Sell your idea to hardwood floor dealers in a couple of formats but tell them to set u up the section of floor on a wall to paint then they can install it were they want.Like a puzzel.

Dale IS an awesome artist y'all. This peice is just beautiful!! He was in Gainesville and a bunch of us got to meet him ... nanana. lol
The work potential exists and if you put an ad in Architectural Digest, Southern Living, etc.(higher-end type magazines) or better yet, have a home featured there with your work in it, your phone & web-site will explode with people calling.
I would urge the home owners to send in pics of their home. Such magazines are always looking for a new twist on the elegant, eccentric and unique, and the people who make that happen get a lot of credit.

Dale, You are fabulous! I agree with just about everyone...with the right exposure you could be really busy. As far as the knees...kneepads are a definate MUST for floor murals. Just an idea: I saw houseslippers made of that conformable foam stuff that they're making mattresses from at Sam's Wholesale club today. It may be a neat thing to line kneepads with. May be worth a try! BTW...doing ceiling murals can be as equally painful for your neck if you don't have good neck support. I regret that I was out of the loop when you came to Gainesville.(that was SO close to home!) Maybe I'll get the pleasure of meeting you at a future meet. In the meantime, keep painting! It's folks like you that make us grateful that God has blessed us with the gift of sight...

On the next one, make yourself a "body-molded" rolling cart, like from a dolly for under your car. If they can lay down to do ceilings, I'm sure you can figure out a way to lay down to do floors.
Or else, maybe some sort of "Tom Cruise/Mission Impossible" counter-weighted, suspended hanging system thingy!?
Let me know how you make it.
