Ray, Myself being new in the sign business I ended taking a trip to the Vermont Sign School In Stowe Vermont. THis is run by Jay Cooke and they offered a great weeks worth of training with he and his staff. I learned everything from guilding to paint masks as well as some hand carving.
Based on you talents he will taloir the course to your needs.
I almost forgot, he also spends a great deal of time on the business and design side of the sign industry as well.

Ray, What you need is to attend a live Letterhead meet my friend. There are a few "goodies" coming up in August! For the price of a few classes you can get a weekend of more knowledge than you can humanly absorb! Check out the Future Meets part in the purple panel on the left side<<<<<of the screen. Make a few phone calls. Send some emails. Choose a meet and buy a plane ticket! You'll never regeret it and it will change your life. Love...Jill

JILL Thanks for the reply, There was two things I wanted to do once I had some extra money.
1- Attend a Leterhead meet. (I think there is one in North Carolina in october.) 2- and go to a sign shop and learn some pointers on carving, design, sandblasting etc.
Now that I have save for that reason I am on the search for what ever can help this old guy improve his business.
By the way this website has got to be the greatest thing. Sign People helping other Sign People. It's is a big help to me just starting out at my age. I just wish I had started this 20 years ago. It's something I really enjoy. thanks again Jill Ray

Don't mean to pry, but have you thought about the limitations of your disability? That would help determine where you might look to specialize. Heavier work or work that would attack a breathing adversely might not be your best bet.

Thanks for the Replys, keep them coming. For the record My disability is a small one. I just canot be on my feet all day. as long as I take a sit down break a few times a day and limit my walking I am fine. This business a one man shop I can make my own hours. when I get tired I stop. when I am in pain I stop. of if I just want to stop, I STOP.
Joe I may be interested in carving, is it by hand or by CNC. Please Keep me informed on the Alantic City Deal. Thank Ray
