I like the wrecking ball and lettering. Maybe try replacing hatchets? with hockey sticks. Just a thought. John

Maybe try flipping the axes over (blades down) an put a ball in front of one ... so they could be "more like hockey sticks???" ... maybe put "Roller hockey" on the small ball in front.

Just brain farting out loud ...

I like what you got and figure once it's on a hockey helmet it would probably be pretty self-explanitory as is.

The on thing I would definitly do is alter the dings and dents in one of the axes ... I see mirror image as odd

Wrecking crew brings sledge hammers to my mind instead of axes. But the name is strong, reads well and stands out nicely.

Rich, first thing I see is that I'd try thickening the outline on the wrecking ball, if it's going to be contour cut and go on a black helmet or be a square with a black background. Also, I think I'd maybe try a font that looks "wrecked".

Looks good, and I agree with above comments- but my bit of constructive criticism is to add an apostrophe to the end if 'Wreckin'. If you are playin hockey, runnin or rollin about, an youre goin to leave off the 'g' then an apostrophe is wantin where the letter was bein omitted from! [Wink]

Keep up the good work!

PS it reminds me of a skull & crossbones pirates' flag- nice design.

Those are some great Ideas I agree with almost everything said above.

I like the Idea of replacing the Axes with Sledge Hammers and not using an exact mirror image. hockey sticks would be cool to but just about every hockey logo has the crossed hockey sticks I wanna be a little. I love the Idea of having the font look wrecked, like the wrecking ball just crashed into it and the letters are cracked or something? I am visualizing it in my head but I don't know if I can pull it off on the computer? Im gonna leave the apostrophe off I know its not correct but we are just dumb hockey players and it doesnt really matter to us lol Im also thinking about adding a chain to the top I just dont know where it should lead to

Ill make some revisions and repost but it may be a take a little while cause I gotta get my real work done before I can play with this again but thanks

I like it Rich. I like that the letters are crisp and easy to read, and not full of fills and fades.
Looks good to me.

The name Wrecking crew brings back memories for me as that was the name for several employees of Amusements of America a carnival company, when trouble began on the midway they would be called in.

Sledge hammers as most others said [Smile]

I like the sledgehammer, non-mirror image suggestion.
I would use shading to make the ball look as if it was coming towards you, like a hot spot on the top of the ball.
I would also extend the WRECKIN to touch the edges of the hammer heads so that if this is to be a contour-cut decal, that the edges would all be smoothish.
A black-eyed yellow smiley face with a missing tooth might be a cool apostrophe....

Richard,

My first thought was actually putting a real wreck to it.
If the ball were actually hitting the back of the lettering...
 -

The text would want to wrap around the ball and the cracking and chips flying off would animate it.
I'd also go with the hockey sticks.

Just playin...

the sledge hammers still need more detail and a chain added but I figured Id post it for some feedback anyway

not sure if im moving in the right direction or not its a little to busy with all the crackes in the letters im starting to get frustrated [Frown] I like the layout of the letters on hhe above post maybe ill try that well ill keep woking on it do guys think I improved the design at all or not? Its times like these I wish I was more schooled in Photoshop

In all honesty Richard, I prefer your first version, but with the sledgehammers (but beat them up) and the hot spot.
It was clean and readable!

I like the lettering with the darker cracks. I'd use the woodgrain handles from the original one and maybe distress the hammers a bit. Sledgehammers always have paint and gunk and grease and who knows what else on the ends (usually a couple dings and scuffs too). I'd also play with the shading on the wrecking ball more. You're going the right direction, but it reminds me more of a spot from a camera flash. Know what I mean, Vern?

Ray, you really have too much time on your hands, don't you? [Wink]

Nooooo, stick with the first one! These are little stickers on hockey helments! You dont' need the cracks and the frills. You also don't need the hockey sticks. I think people will know that you are a hockey team from the telltale helmets that you will be wearing and the sticks you are carrying! [Wink] How many NHL logos actually have a hockey stick in them?? Also, it looks way better on the black background.

last attemt for today I may just revert back to the original with hammers instead of axes im undecided but this is where im at so far
I like the word crew in a different font on this logo

the chain is a disaster im not sure how to make it work the sledge hammers will also get more detail but ive had enough for today

thanks for your advice so far

next year the logo will probably go on our Jerseys to thats why im stressing over it so much the helmet stickers are just the begining

later

"Wreck'n" is short for "wreck and", not "wrecking" (it is used in phrases like "Rock 'n Roll", "Fish 'n Chips")
As mentioned above, it should be "Wreckin'" I think the end apostophe is a must.

We have labels/signs on some of our products at work that say "Take'n a break" (instead of "takin' a break") and "Gone Fish'n" (should be "Gone Fishin')
I cringe everytime I see them, the boss thinks they're fine.

I'm designing it for myself and I like the way it looks without

I like the 3d effect on the sledge hammers

Richard,

Lots of nice ideas here! I believe it may behoove the design a bit to flip the tools the other way to resemble hockey sticks and have the word crew built into a hockey puck. It would look nice to place the crash-boom-bang details around that! But I'm just a girl who dudn't play hockey so take that with a grain of salt lol!

We'd love to see what the final design looks like. Suelynn is right, too much on too little can be tough to read. Test it by letting folks see it at a glance and tell you what they remember.

I had a funny thought of a toothless-ish grin on the wrecking ball, but nah. LOL
