Just trying to post something. Let's see if it works. Gitano Design Studio
Cool! It worked!
I have Comcast Cable and they offer space to create your own website so I thought I would mess around with it a couple of nights ago. This is just a small sample of some of my work. I eventually want to build my own site instead of using generic templates but this is a start. The link goes to the homepage with my logo kinda there in your face. Gitano means gypsy in Spanish.

Maybe I shouldn't have posted that last post. I apologize if anyone is offended by a "graphic artist" posting anything. I was real excited to finally show something then I went to the BB and read the slamming of "graphic artists". We even made it as a "shortest joke".
To those who think all graphic artists/designers are prima donnas the way you think of architects...we're not. Yes, I too have come across a whole lot of them who are like that, total jerks who just think they are the ****. Which is precisley why I would never work in an ad agency. But then again I've seen a couple of prima donnas here too.
I also know a lot of down to earth, awesomely talented graphic artists who have the utmost respect for all artists - which I count sign folks to be, artists. I have the utmost respect for all the people here and it would be nice to be treated in the same manner. Some of the work by some of you people just blows me away how great it is. And I mean that wholeheartedly. It's not just good, it's great art.
I am proud of what I do and I think I'm pretty damn good at it. And yes, I do sign work but if this place is just for purely sign guys, let me know and I'll bail and not bother you with my questions.
There have been a whole lot of people here who have helped me in one way or another and I really appreciate those fine folks. I've also given my two cents to help a few people out.
Thanks for listening.

First and foremost, your stuff is wonderful! I really like your logo also. Enjoyed browsing your website. Thanks for sharing, and keep them coming buster!
I haven't seen the graphic artist discussion yet, just logged on this morning, and came straight to the portfolio table. I did see the shortest joke comment tho.
Don't sweat the views of some towards graphic artists. I like to consider myself one, and can only hope to follow in the footsteps of some of some very talented graphic artists I'm honoured to work with and have befriended thru the years.
Sure there are "wannabees" and "knowitalls" out there in any trade. Nobody likes to be lumped in a catagory.
Sterio-typing anyone without getting to know them is evidence of a closed mind. Nettie

Dude, you can't take it so personal. It's kind of running joke, scapegoat stereotype thing ... like franchise shops. For me the problem isn't the artist that that works as a "graphic designer" (hell, it says "designer" on my biz card for day job ... "WTF do you care" didn't fit). I do production for a few really good designers ... and more than a few for designers that give no thought to production. Nothing pees me off more than a customer who payed big bucks at an ad agency/design studio and I have to spent hours getting expensive crappy designs to produce ... (quark or word are not graphics programs). Well maybe the camera ready fax or autocad file with 300,000 objects to make a line of text pee me off more ... depends on what day it is.
That's my take on that, call yourself whatever you want. You've been around the board long enough to know it's nothing more than a stereotype joke ... like ... How many Pollocks does it take to type this post ...
Site looks good for a template, very clean look.

Thanks Nettie & Mark for the nice comments! I don't know why I took such offense to that. I normally could care less what anybody calls me. Maybe it's 'cuz it was 1:00 a.m. and I was just taking a break from a stressful project when I read the comments.
I too have worked for "designers" like that. I can't stand them. I was also an architectural designer for 7 years so I know a whole lot of architects that are like that. But...on the other hand I know some down to earth graphic designers & architects who are so freakin' talented it's unreal. Like a lot of the folks on this board. I'm amazed at some of the work here. Anyway, I'll try not to get my panties in a ruffle next time (just a figure of speech, we graphic artists don't wear panties, well some of us anyway)

Now, about the graphic designer thing... personally, the only graphic designers I have a problem with are the ones who insist on telling you that they are a graphic designer, like that word should make me "ooh & ahh" over them. I think the GD term has gotten a bad reputation because the great ones don't constantly have to emphasise that they are one and the ones who constantly say it, suck.

It's so cool to be recognized by people that I've admired for a long time.

Just a note about that rendering with the buildings. I did that while working at Sandia National Laboratories. It's done with markers. We were going to renovate the 3 buildings in the "U" shape and at the same time they wanted to see it without vehicles.
Former President Bush (Sr.) was to visit our site and speak around that time and ALL vehicles had to be removed within a 1/4 mile radius from the spot that he was speaking from. It was kinda eerie seeing that the day it happened. The place looked abandoned. But anyway, they also wanted the rendering to reflect that for some reason.
