This one is for my own business. I'm starting up a new identity for a whole new product line.
Originally I was just going to use my own name, I may still do that because of the recognition factor, but I'm also tossing around the idea of a slightly more descriptive biz name.
I'm going for a different concept with the new biz.. instead of specializing in any one type of product, projects will include anything that meets my fancy as long as it's custom work that's not already available in mass market, so I may bring it to mass market and hold all the marketshare.
So, here's a very simple and clean logo concept I came up with. The "starburst" is kinda indicative that many of these new products will incorporate LED lighting in some way, although not all products will be illuminated.. some of them may be carbon fiber, or just plastic, or metal, or pottery, or any other medium I decide to get into... in which case in the logo I want to convey the concept of bright ideas. "Automotive Products" is just a tagline to be used for that market, and may be changed to something like "Innovative Furnishings" or "Design Studio" or something else depending on the markets I tackle as the business evolves. Automotive products will be the introductory product line.

Mike not being familiar with you and what you do I think we sometimes get too close to the forest to see any trees. From what I see, what is it you do, windshield wipers, light bulbs, and polish or do you customize cars or are you a sign maker, decorator or what. It seems to me that even with name recognition you better have a pretty strong presence. I just don't have any idea what you are trying to sell the sevices of or to. Once you've done it you've got to live with it.

It's more product development than anything. The products may be automotive related, they could be electronics, furniture, tools, or bathroom fixtures.. not saying these items are the focus but they're all possible avenues.
Basically anything I feel like getting into, I will because I don't believe in limiting your area of expertise to just one thing. Most large/profitable companies don't specialize in one little market, they corner a market then adapt their technology to other things. IBM isnt just about computers, Microsoft isnt just about software, GM isnt just about cars and trucks, Kawasaki isn't just about motorcycles and jetskis, Anheuser-Busch isn't just about beer.
I'll start off in the automotive segment because right now that's the most feasible market for me to crack, but as that grows I will diversify into other markets that interest me.
