Here are a couple of pics of the pig I painted for the Sask Abilities fundraiser "Pigs in the City" The unvieling was yesterday in Regina and they will be placed in the streets today. There were some great ideas.
Once it is in it's place I'll try and get a full picture and add it to this post.

Personally I am fully sick of seeing painted fiberglass animals ... locals did horses last year and the full animal kingdom this year ... but most aren't as nice as yours
I wanna know how too

Thanks, glad you like her. There is nothing too special about how I painted her. There were 23 of them made in Saskatoon. They are made of a two part expandable foam that was poured into a mould. After unmoulding they were sprayed with a poly urea coating and primed with red oxide primer. The pigs measure about five feet by three feet by three feet. I hand painted my pig using a coin catalogue for references. I started by making a styrene circle for a pattern and drawing the outlines randomly on the pig. The painting was done with craft acrylics - metallic copper, black, light and dark brown and a touch of seafoam for verdigras on the older coins. The first coins were completely handpainted and then I got smart and cut out vinyl letters which I lightly brushed the backs with talcum powder so they wouldn't stick too hard and remove the paint. I placed them on the coins and sponged a darker (or lighter) color over them and then detailed them by hand. The dots on each coin were made by dipping the eraser back into paint and dabbing it onto the coins. The hardest part was trying to decide how to deal with the tail, hoofs, ears and snout. In the end I decided to warp the coins around them. After I was done painting it (63 hrs) I clear coated it with Imron clear. It was a very rewarding experience, for a good cause and should be good exposure. At the unveiling they set me & my pig up between the bar and the media. Needless to say I kinda got a lot of attention.
