This is another old one of mine. I think it was 5-6 years ago. Last time I checked it was in need of a refinish but I dont think the owners will do anything until its probably to late.

Mark used the right adjective ... very rich, very tastefully done.

Bob, give a call or swing by and hit them up about a revamp. They might just need alittle nudge to make a move on it.

Would really be a shame to watch that one slip away.

Nettie I agree with you but what do you do when you barely have enough time to keep up with all of the new work that keeps coming through?

And what does it say about the client if they allow their investment to wither away? Who has the ultimate responsibility with taking care of a sign after the fact. Does it lie with the sign maker or the owner? Whats everyone elses take on after the sale policies?

Bob, glad to see you busy! [Wink]

The answer is a resounding yes, in my view, that the customer is accountable for their own sign.
We are all responsible for our own stuff.

Still, I think many of us are guilty of letting things go too long. (my vehicle sorely needs a detail job right now, and I still haven't painted areas of my house that had been worked on months ago. It's on my "to do" list)

I think customer's in general take their signs for granted after they are up awhile. Also, some just don't know that they could be prolonging the lifespan with regular maintenance. Some also, just don't care, or don't realize the value of their investment.

I do mention maintenance to them when I first do their sign. Ways they could keep it clean, and that a timely revamp would be a good thing. But still I think with some folks alittle reminder is in order.

It's not our reponsibility though, to take care of a customer's sign, just a service that could be offered. I just thought on this particular sign Bob, it would just be a crying shame to let something so beautiful fade into oblivion. [Frown]

Ultimately, it's the customer's call.
Nettie

Thank you all for the nice compliments. I take great pains to create the best that I can possibly do. I have devoted my entire adult life or the past 30 years of it anyway, to becoming the best that I am capable of.

Not a day goes by that I dont try to learn something new, experiment with sometimes risky new techniques, and invest hours of unpaid time learning to become a better designer.

Most important though is I am my own worse critic. I will go out of my way to find even the smallest detail in my layout that could have been made better.

One day I will create the perfect sign but I doubt that will happen in the next 30 years.

Its a sickness I tell you, I am disturbed.

Bob,

I gotta say this is one of the nicest signs I've seen yet! I really love the colors and the shape.

Can you please give a little description of what materials you used and how it was constructed?

Great job,
Suelynn

Well lets see now. The very back panel is cut from 1/2" komacel. Next panel up is 1/4" pvc and then the raised ribbon is also 1/4" pvc stacked on top of the second raised panel.

Zephry Oaks is 23k spun gold with a burgandy outline on a hunter green. The horse graphic is scotchprint digital.

the Ivory panel on bottom is painted and so is the scroll work around oval graphic.

Bottom of sign is T-111 covering two 4x4 posts.
assembled with epoxy's and carefully hidden screws in strategic places.

I think the overall size was about 4x4 on the sign itself.

Price was somewhere around $1,500.00
