Some of us write really well to get our point across quickly, I am not one of those people.
The local paper decided to let me continue to cartoon every week. In exchange, I sign them "sturgis signworks". Its better than any ad that I've ever run, (more fun too)

Now you have your work cut out for you, Steve! I started cartooning for our local paper when I was 10. My Dad told me to take my stuff down to see if they needed a cartoonist. I did. After a week, the editor told me to have three per week (weekly publication)... he'd print one, stockpile the rest and pay me a BUCK for each one that he printed. My Grandfather told me he'd match every buck I made with two, so now I was making three bucks a week as a cartoonist. Now I was under a lot of pressure to come up with stuff on a deadline. Things spiraled out of control after that and I became a signmaker.
Ways to "come up with stuff": Listen to talk radio, Read the paper, read the local paper with all of the stupid city politics, go for coffee or a beer and let the bull fly, go to a barber with old guys that have been retired for 20 years, find the humor in everything.
This will be interesting and I look forward to seeing your progress.
