A few weeks back I was on here asking a little assistance on doing a mural for my bedroom. Here's the finished product. I ended up choosing this picture I found on a calender. I had already painted the window opening, of course the picture was of different proportions. It was done over a period of a week. It was done using acrylics from Wal Mart. Some airbrushing, some sponging but mostly brush work. This was my first time to use acrylics.

That looks so real George. The depth on the hammock is so realistic, & that one palm looks like a photo. I'd like to see an even closer view! You got a better view then I do.

George,

I thought that was a photo mural! Damn, you are good! I am impressed. All's that missing is scantily clad native girls and drinks with the funky little umbrellas...

Have a great one!

Yup ... very realistic for sure!
You captured the lighting and shadows exquisitely!

Better add doing murals to your bag of tricks now!

George, You have a way with realism, could have fooled me with the paint, sure looks like a photo down in the Fla. Keys where I have fond memories with my dad. A lazy afternoon!

Man that's great! I am trying to figure out something to paint in our bathroom right now. We just took down the wallpaper.

I don't think I could ever do that!!

Fantastic.

Did you use the craft paint from Wal-Mart in the little bottles. I have bunch of those I am planning to use.

Wow, George....that is awesome!

Man you need to share some more of your work
with us so we can drewl.

And to do that in a week. I think you are on to a
potentially very profitable venture. That piece of work and anything like it commands a premium.
As far as I am concerned you rank up there with the elite on this board. Thanks for sharing!

Maybe you can give us a "mini how to" on how you did it ?

ps...and thanks for responding to one of my first posts on the BB, you were an encourager when I needed it in picking a plotter/cutter.

George...
Thats a really fine job. I like it because of the way that hammock is kind of unexpected. When you first mentioned doing the mural I was kinda thinking oh no, not another endless sunset, but this scene pulls off the beach theme nicely. The hammock just invites you into the picture and puts you right on the beach. And I think thats one of the signs of good art...Getting the viewer involved in the painting.

And like Janette said , you have the light and shadows just right. I can't say enough about the hammock... you chose to make it look worn which means its been USED! And you got it tilted just enough that you can almost feel the breeze that musy be blowing it, so that's adding a little action to what would normally be a static scene. It's hard to breath life into something like a beach scene, but you pulled it off.

The only thing I'm not crazy about is the frame color...it seems like it gets lost being almost the same as the wall... is that just me??

That's very nice! and believe me...I see A LOT of beach scenes down here!

Jeff, I'm sure George will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the "frame" effect is actually representing looking through the wall as if the scene is right outside.

Again, very nice, George!

Joe..
Yes,it IS a window, but I still have reservations about the frame color. Not really trying to be picky though, cause I really like the mural.

Jeff, a little explanation as far as the "frame" goes, I'm not really wild about it either. My original intention was to do some faux rocks/stones whatever of various sizes. This bedroom is my first ever attempt at any interior decorating. I plan on buying new furniture, I'm thinking along the lines of European or Scandanavian, the sleek, smooth stuff. I figure the starkness of the furniture might play off the "business" of what's going on with the walls. I was kinda afraid the rocks might just be a bit much, so for now it's just an opening in the sheet rock, til I get the furniture in there. I figure it would be real easy to put the rocks over what's there now but a real bitch to go the other way. I thought I had made a big mistake when I first rolled that peach on the walls. Then after I started adding the hunter green here and there it all started to pull together ( man I HAVE GOT TO STOP Watching HGTV [Smile] Anyway the frame as it is will get changed in some way before it's all over with.
