This was something I did this morning on my wife's car, I as of yet do not own a thermal printer, and I really didn't want to buy a roll of window perf because I wouldn't have much use for the leftover material. I really didn't think this would be worth the trouble, but when I get an idea, I just have to attemt it. I designed the file in Flexi-Pro 6. I made a circle .10", and I used the step and repeat tool and spaced the circles .10" to the right, and .10" up, and made a sheet completely filled 18" X 26". I then used some transfer tape to pull up the tiny cut circles, it only took 5 min to weed this way. It turned out to be better than I had imagined. The longest part was generating the file in the production manager, because the number of circles was almost, 25,000. I left the plotter cutting overnight so waiting wasn't a problem. Some of the pics came out blue cause of the light, sorry. Weeding with stips of transfer tape. All Weeded. View Outside View form the inside.

Now there is proof that you are using the gifts blessed to you. What a super idea! I have often thought about doing and inkjet print and doing the same thing... Food for thought.

Bruce (I didn't recognize you!), do you print on sheets of vinyl in a regular inkjet printer. I have thought about trying that with a spray of frog juice on top before and after printing. What do ya think? Good for short term on my own vehicle??

Hi, thanks guys. Amy, I tried printing on regular HP vinyl stock with an inkjet it didn't work, the ink just beads. You will have to use a coated media. I did try printing on some stuff they sell everywhere (staples, office max, office depot) for making inkjet bumper stickers. I didn't have Frog Juice at the time, but I used Krylon Crystal Clear and they lasted about a week, and then the rain penetrated it maybe if i edge sealed them they would have lasted. I wasn't talking about a desktop printer. I was referring to doing a large format print on vinyl done on our Encad printer. Really thinking about it now... Hmmmmmmmm.

Amy..I had the same results as Brian. I used inkjet receptive vinyl that I purchased from Kapco. After printing a flag on it I frog juiced it and applied it to a neighbour's RV (for free, as an experiment) It lasted until the very first rain and they ended up with a plain white decal!!!
Also did the same thing on a backlit sign for inside a garage. It lasted a bit longer...about a month.... and then it bleached out until it was almost white also.
I also have one stuck on a wall in the shop. It has been there for about 3 or 4 years and is only slightly faded since it is not subjected to really intense light or rain.
