This one just got installed at an Afghani restaurant. The area in Afghanistan near Kabul is the Bamiyan region or valley. you may recall in the news that the Taliban destroyed these ancient statues, this one a replica of the largest (180 ft high I think). The funny thing is that I am a Christian and all my friends come by and see this or call and I get to say I am making myself an idol, and wait for the response, lots of fun.
Details on the sign... 4" 18 lb HDU (started at 250 lbs) with a Dibond backer. Done with grinder, chisels, wire brush (I destroyed two on this one) and anything else I could find to give me the texture I needed. Aribrushed to accent the depth and then cleared many times with Pelucid (this thing is a vandals dream come true). The borders are copper (I gave a hammer to my 4 year old and waited a couple of hours. The lettering is all HDU cust out, main copy is gilded and sponged with copper 1 shot and cleared.

Thanks guys, it was fun to do (at times). I bought the 4" HDU as one piece, SignFoam which as shipped from California at my suppliers cost (Midwest) I priced it out both ways and the 2 2" pieces was more money, and work. The "sponge" was actually a plastic bag all wadded up, great for texture.
