Ok, I've never posted anything on here basically because any signwork I do is usually the "basic stuff". But being my PC-60 should be arriving back from the doctors any day now, I want to start getting into some more designing and printing projects. This board has done a great deal for me.
Anyway, I wanted to design something for my own business for a start. I have always just used my name "Graphic Details" kind of written out in different ways, never really in any "uniform" manner.
Here is my first attempt (Please keep in mind that my only designing is usually promotional marketing programs, and not much graphics work, which I would like to start changing). I was trying to go for a sleek kind of look, but keeping it simple, also.
What do you think? And go ahead, I can take anyone's opinions.
(hope this pic loads)

Hi Randy......nice to see your work! I think you have accomplished the clean sleek look very well. One thing that might be fun with your business name is to make some details in your design somewhere as that is part of your name. Even a very light colored scroll in the background.

I agree with Cheryl, (Hi Cheryl!) Thanks for sharing your work. You're a brave soul! Can you post it with a background scroll? My first impression: the firstline I really like, and the joining of the "G" and the "D". The second, line, however,(Promotional Advertising Agency) somehow doesn't blend. The font styles there don't seem to compliment each other. I see a larger, maybe a lighter script sort of font, maybe on a ribbon kind of thing, crossing over the "Graphic Detail" words. That's just my 1/2 a cent worth. Sure hope you'll post your finished product. If the links are still available and you have time, go back and look at a Coyote Signs promotional card changes. You'll see the start of the project and the transitions that the artwork went through to completion. It's a real helpful post.

Nice to see you posting here. I just have to ask... where the heck is Port Edward?
Anyways... Tying the "G" and the "D" together was a great idea. I think that when the two of them got welded, it created a funky thing going with the middle. The cross stroke of the "G" is forming a serif on the "D".
So... since that's going on anyways, why don't we just take it to another level and do it on purpose?
This is my take of what you started...
Have a great one!

I had tried a few different banner and scroll-type effects, but nothing really looked that great when I did them. I thought it gave a kind of "circus" effect. It probably was just the way that I did them.
So I just decided to go with the secondary text by itself. I then added the intersecting lines to try to hold the secondary text in a little rather than kind of floating there. I thought it also added to the sleeker look I was going for.
Bruce, thanks for your extra effort with a pic. I especially liked the watermark look in the background. Very cool. And BTW, it is Fort Edward. And it is about 45 minutes north of Albany. I'm also about 25 minutes away from the Balch's (Balch Signs), who I should be meeting sometime this week if we can hook up with a time.
Again, thanks for the critiques. If anyone has any more, I'm all ears. So far, I think you all have been very nice.
