I don't mean to be rude or anything like that but you did ask for any thoughts.
Your overall design looks nice. I just see a couple things that may need tweaking. First off, the "U" at its bottom should extend below the baseline of the other flat-bottom letters. It just doesn't balance right. I notice that the shadow side of the convex letters looks to be the same color as globe. I see nothing wrong with that but would suggest slightly darkening the shade on the letters. But using same color on globe might be too dark (or maybe not).
The green decoration bothers me. It seems to crowd the lettering. Maybe you could thin it down a little & leave more space around letters & globe. & maybe tone it down a little bit.
The white lettering on "surveying & mapping" seems to overpower the rest of the image. Maybe the above suggestions would help but I'd consider toning down the white as well. I wasn't gonna mention anything about the phone # as that looks about right. But maybe using the same color for both the # & surveying line. With the differences in line value being what they are, simultaneous contrast will make the phone # appear darker anyway.
Other than that, it looks fine. Just my .03.

It's a nice design but I would like to see a few things tried out on it. I'm with bill on the alterations he suggested. My own thought is the 'N' should be topped like the other letters as it causes the green to end too soon and unbalance the logo. I like the concept of the squares on the globe, as in a mapped and surveyed section, Right? it's a clever way to show what the company does. Nice work

I like it Joe, well done. That "U" does need tweeking, maybe flatten the curve a little so the negative space is not quite so obvious. Perhaps you could try dropping the first stroke of the "R" to counter the extended stroke of the "N", this may help lead the eye to "Surveying" etc. I like good chunky design with contrasting line values, good job.

I increased the space between the "ruben" and the green lines, which allowed me the space to pull the "u" to a more natural baseline. I agree, much better.
I tried most of the other suggestions at some point during the design process, but scrapped them for the following reasons:
Using a darker color for the shade on the letters, in my opinion, creates too much contrast in the letter, harming legibility.
I also tried a grey letter for the "mapping" line. I decided to leave it white for the same reason it was suggested I tone it back. I want that line to stand out. Because if it doesn't, you run the risk of catching "ruben", but having no idea what they do.
I also had the same thought initially about dropping the leg on the "R" to balance out the "N". It didn't stay that way long. With no better explanation, It just didn't work for me. It just threw the "R" off-balance, I guess.
I also tried the line straight across the top, without the extension on the "N". I felt that it did not create the interest that the current word has. It just looked "typed-in".
Thanks again for the critiques, more are welcome also.
