Today, I found a new use for Rapid Remover...Self Defense. I found myself having the worst day today and it just kept snowballing but the highpoint was the "Police Chase" I got to be involved in. I was lettering a Big Rig behind a towing shop when all of the sudden I hear the words "Freeze!" and I see this guy come running by, I knew he was the one running from the cops, he just had the look. Anyways he ducks into the bushes right next to me and a few seconds later a cop runs up. He asks did I see which way he went and I directed him to the bushes. I immeditaly thought that the bad guy might come out looking for a getaway car which the closest would have been mine so I reached in the dash for my trusty old Glock .40 S&W I carry, IT WASN'T THERE!!! My wife had it, I then looked around the car for a weapon just in case, nothing except for a razor knife, WOW! I looked some more then I saw my bottle of Rapid Remover, I figured it would be sortta like a a makeshift mace so there I was brandishing a bottle of Rapid Remover set on stream to spray old dude in the eyes. Next thing I know I end up helping the cop look for old dude still with bottle in hand but he had gotten away. Dadgummit, I really was wanting to get to spray old dude with it. Oh well maybe next time. HA!HA!

See whats bad about the gun is that she has her own dadgummit. I have a really nice Ruger SP101 357 Mag, spurless hammer and one day I get into my car and it's gone. I asked her about it and she said "That's my gun now, I like it better than mine so now it's mine". Dadgummit! She had never shot a gun before we met so I hooked her up..First Rifle she shot...my 45-70 Marlin, First pistol she shot...my Dan Wesson .44 mag with a 3" barrell, first shotgun she shot...my Benelli Super 90 M-1 with a 3" slug. She was a little bruised but now she likes guns.

Hey Joey, It's is one of those supposedly plastic guns (a myth) that is supposed to be able to go through a metal detector (a myth too) without being detected. A .40 S&W is a bullet for a semi auto that 'ill put the unlucky soul who gets shot with it in a coffin quick. If your going to shoot somebody, go ahead a blow 'em in half is my motto. I used to carry a .44 mag but they just won't fit in the dash of my Tracker too well. HA!HA!

Glad Marty doesn't like to shoot...I wore out a Ponsess/Warren shotshell reloader keeping myself and 2 kids supplied. Installing my new one tomorrow am, when it's a bit cooler! Old one did well over 1/2 million shells.

Your wife must know her stuff- I heard a first-timer shooting a .357 will go into low-earth-orbit if they aren't careful...
First I ever shot was my Dad's Ruger .44 magnum bush rifle. Beautiful gun! Almost a foot shorter than his .300 Savage, and much lighter. Unfortunately, us Canadians can only carry pistols if we are on the wrong side of the law...(almost!!! No kidding!). My uncle has the twin 250-3000 Savage...I hope to inherit both.

Ain't no lie, it really happened OP. Todays been kinda normal though. You wouldn't beleive yesterday though, man oh man. After lettering their truck, me and one of the guys who works there I know were going to change the serpentine belt on my wifes car because it was jumping off and fraying. While I was pulling down on the belt tensioner/idler arm, it broke so we replaced it. Then we put the new belt on and it kept jumping off pulley so we got to looking and the crankshaft pully was wobbling so I had to buy a new one of those. A $20 belt change turned into a $150 dollar bunch of BS a several trips running around getting parts. Like the guy said, he sure was glad I was there to see it happen. Yesterday was one pure crock of BS!!!!!! Guess what OP, that still wasn't everything stupid that happened. DADGUMMIT!!! BLASTIT!!!! SONOFABEACH!!!! Oh well, thank god it's over.

John, are you required to take a CCW class in your state? If so, do you remember the legal rammifications of shooting somebody, even if you are in fear of your life? They aren't pleasant....plan on getting sued from the scumbags family who happen to believe their kin was a saint. It'll cost you thousands in lawyer bills and could suck every dollar you own like a oversized Hoover vac.
And guess what happens when you think you'll be the hero and save some strangers life because you happen to be armed and feeling generous? You get your butt sued off anyway. And do you think the grateful stranger will pay your legal bills? Guess again. It's, "thanks for saving my life...sorry I can't help you pay your lawyer bills".
I'd think twice before playing John "Wayne". For me, it would have to be an immediate and unrelenting threat to my life or my family...with absolutely no alternative for a safe resolution.
I don't know about your state...but in Michigan...the only place you can shoot first and ask questions later is in your own home.
If you're anywhere else....you have to make (and prove) an attempt to retreat away from the situation to a safe place. You also cannot under any circumstances shoot anyone unless there is an imminent and genuine fear of your life, being raped, or having serious life threatening injuries.
You can't shoot someone for beating the crap out of you or even if a group beats the crap out of you..the threat of minor non-life threatening injuries aren't justification. They'll prosecute you for murder. Now if they had a baseball bat, that's a different story...because they could kill you with that.
Georgia may be more liberal on this issue than Michigan....but here, the criminal has most of the rights.
You let clearer heads prevail by arming yourself only with Rapid Remover. So, how does the law work in your neck of the woods?
By the way...the Glock is a decent gun...but more people have been accidentally killed by Glocks than any other make....mostly because there is no mechanical safety and a lot of poorly trained owners keep there finger on the trigger...even when they aren't prepared to fire.
Also, in Michigan...Your wife cannot legally be in possession of your handgun if you are not physically there with her. The gun has to be used by or in the presence of the registered owner. Here, the wife would generally need her own gun.
Some other fun gun facts:
1.) Only 3% of single shot handgun wounds are fatal. So I plan on running in a zig-zag pattern if I'm ever accosted. I've told my kids the same....if someone stops the car while you're taking a bike ride and points a gun towards you and tells you to get in the car, just get off your bike and run like bell in a zig zag motion towards a neighbors house...screaming your head off.
2.) 85% of single shot handgun wounds do not even require surgery...more reason to ignore the perpetrator and run like a cheatah.
This is an interesting OT topic...how about any other stories/gun laws from people in other states?

Hey Todd, in Georgia we don't have a concealed carry law like most states (hard to say what ours really is) and classes aren't necesarry to get the permit (which I don't consider a concealed carry permit). I do have the Georgia firarms permit which allows you to carry it some places and if you ask anybody that should know like a cop or game warden where you can carry it, you'll get as many different answers as folks you asked. My wallet is in my car an I am fixing to leave but when I get back, I will post the "law" according to my just renewed "permit" and let you guys try to figure it out. I would never shoot anybody UNLESS it was 100% necesarry and I sure won't stand around and let somebody else get killed (depends on who it is..HA!HA!) even if it would mean getting sued. I have only pointed a gun at somebody 3 or 4 times in my life and beleive me, it is the scariest moment in your life. Twice I did it in defense of somebody else and both times I maced the guy in the end (mace doesn't work good on drunks either so don't waste you time) and once was in self defense and that was the scariest, thank god the guy decided to leave. That wife thing is crazy, it's probably a left over law from the 1800's. Lost of those crazy laws in every state. About Glock's, I really like revolvers myself but since my wife took mine, I just carry the Glock in my car. Glocks are really sloppy to me but it is a reliable gun and that amounts to a lot. Talk about funnies and guns, one time I had 12 or 13 guns in my truck (been to the range earlier) and I had a wreck (fell asleep at the wheel), the cops thought that was funny, gun cases with guns in them toseed all about the truck. Most of them were assault weapons too. Thank goodness a cop came along that I knew and got me off the hook. That was in 1992, bet it would be a different story nowadays.."Crazed man wreck's with 15 UZI's while planning to attack blah...blah... He must of been a postal worker." HA!HA!

Couple other things....If someone is screwing with you on the road...you can't casually pull your pistol into view and act like you're inspecting it...to let the offending driver know you're packing...that's called "brandishing a weapon". You'll get arrested and they'll revoke your CCW license forever.
Did you know that a person standing 21 feet away from you with a butcher knife can literally be on top of you hacking away before a person can draw their weapon from a holster and shoot? Saw a demo on this.
Whenever confronted by a suspicious person...you should always keep at least 21 feet or more distance between you and them.
It's best, they say, to steer clear of all suspicious people....cross the street if you have to. Old people are especially prone to be victimized. What a shame eh?
Never take your eyes off their hands....a mugger will ask things like, "hey, you got the time?" And as soon as you look down at your watch they'll take you down. Never look away from anyone suspicious.

Heres a cute one; You have all heard the old saying "never bring a knife to a GUN fight" One person took it to heart, seems he built a small (deringer like) pistol into the base of his knife!
Wouldn't that be a surprise at a "knife fight"
He he he he he

Rick, you mean that slightly over 50% of HOME handgun injuries are at the hands of a family member. This is unfortunately correct. People need to learn and practice safe use of their firearms.
What's more unfortunate is the fact that many more kids die in swimming pools, bike accidents, car accidents, and on-and-on.
Consider the following and what might have happened in your state if there wasn't readily available access to firearms:
Oakland Tribune, Oakland, CA, 3/27/99 State: CA
An 82-year-old retired Air Force pilot and his wife of 59 years were awakened early one morning to the sounds of someone rummaging through their Oakland, California, area home. When an intruder turned on the homeowner, he was met with a single, fatal shot from the same pistol that had seen the veteran through World War II, Korea and Vietnam.
Fresno Bee, Fresno CA, 8/29/99 State: CA
A 20-year-old man allegedly went on a crime spree early one Saturday in remote Posey, California, breaking into several homes, burglarizing some and brandishing a knife at residents. He finally picked the wrong house where he allegedly attempted to stab resident Lonnie Dugger. The armed citizen then put a stop to the rampage by shooting the deranged man once in the arm and detaining him until sheriff's deputies could arrive.
The Daily Breeze, Torrance, CA, 12/6/98 State: CA
Patrons at a west side Torrance, California, eatery were terified one evening when a customer allegedly pulled out a knife and began threatening others inside the restaurant. Another customer, who had a permit for carrying a firearm, was prepared and answered the threat by drawing a handgun. Two of the Good Samaritan's shots struck the arm of the knife-wielding man, ending the chaotic episode.
There are zillions of examples like this. Unfortunately, gun bans only give confidence to the criminals, who have less fear of their would-be victims.
Ben Franklin said it well: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither Liberty nor safety."
"When the government fears the People, that is Liberty. When the People fear the Government, that is tyranny."
~~ Thomas Jefferson
"Arms are the only true badges of liberty. The possession of arms is the distinction of a free man from a slave."
~~ Andrew Fletcher 1698
Some more interesting facts:
* Americans use firearms to defend themselves from criminals about 760,000 times a year. This figure is the lowest among a group of 15 nationwide polls done by organizations including Gallup and the Los Angeles Times. (7)
* Washington D.C. enacted a virtual ban on handguns in 1976. Between 1976 and 1991, Washington D.C.'s homicide rate rose 200%, while the U.S. rate rose 12%. (1)

I'm with you and Ben Franklin on that one Todd.
The Constitution makes this very clear, its not a right to fight any oposistion to our "life liberty and the pursuit of happiness" its a responsibility!

Todd, What you didn't put in was suicides. murder/suicide, among spouses and argument amongst freinds and neighbors.. Another moral, try not to **** your gun toting, husband/wife/kid/relative/neighbor or freind. And if your depressed, **** off your gun toting husband/wife/kid/relative/neighbor that way you don't have to feel guilty about taking your own life. Rick

Had a hard time figuring out how the missing words (the ****) completed your thought...so, I'm not sure what you were trying to say exactly.
But this might help clarify...
* Between 1977 and 1992, 10 states adopted right-to-carry laws. Dr. Lott's study found that the implementation of these laws created: -- no change in suicide rates, -- a .5% rise in accidental firearm deaths, -- a 5% decline in rapes, -- a 7% decline in aggravated assaults, -- and an 8% decline in murder
for the 10 states that adopted these laws between 1977 and 1992. (7) * Using 1995 numbers, this amounts to:
-- 1 more accidental gun death, -- 316 less murders, -- 939 less rapes, -- and 14,702 less aggravated assaults
in these 10 states annually. (16)
I think people that are depressed enough to commit suicide and take others with them, choose a variety of methods.
Take Andrea Yates of for instance. This mother was suicidal, but chose to drown her 4 kids.
And another woman, can't remember her name, but she locked her kids in the car and let it roll into a lake drowing them.
A gun, like a steak knife, a rope, a chain, or a baseball bat is an inatimate object...incapable of doing anything in and of itself.
I'd like to see a study on how many criminals purchased their guns legally....I would wager to say that almost none had.
I'm not trying to convince anyone that they MUST own a gun. I'm just saying that as free Americans we should have the right to. If a person doesn't like guns...they don't have to have one. They can rely on the police if that makes them feel safe.
P.S. This kind of turned into a political debate...so I'm finished with the topic. Everyone else can have the last word.

Here's what my Georgia Firearms License says on the back of it. Deadly weapons at public gatherings (by the way, you cannot carry a firearm to a "public gathering" in Georgia and this is where it is sort of fuzzy. I know SC is really clear on their laws, thats where I moved to GA from. I am going to trim this down a tad but you'll get the whole context.
A person is guilty of a misdemenor when he carries a weapon to a public gathering. For the purpose of this code section, "public gathering" shall include but shall not be limited to (thats the confusing statement) atheletic or sporting events, churches or church functions, political rallies, publically owned or operated buildings, or establishments where alcoholic beverages are sold for consumption on the premises. It says some more about who can carry like law officers and judges and the like. It is the "shall include but shall not be limited to" that I don't get. That means that they (the cops) can decide on a case by case basis if you can carry a gun in a sertain place or not. Maybe illegal one day not the next. I dunno. I never have been able to get a straight answer on that one from a cop or the magistrate who issues it.

The times I have had to pull a gun were pretty drastic. Once a drunken, irate boyfriend was beating my mom when I was about 12, I stuck my .410 to his head and escorted him out of the house then sprayed him with my moms mace. He called the cops and guess what, he got arrested for assault and battery. Next time a friend and I were in a parking lot late at night and a deranged drunk whom we had never seen before came up with a knife and started hitting my truck and confronting my friend, it had all of the makings of a carjacking so I reached into my truck, got my gun and I pointed it at him and he backed off a little just enough for us both to get in the truck . Before I shut the door, I sprayed him with mace, he then proceeded to hit my truck and wave his knife while we were pulling away, mace didn't impress me that time. Next time, I had a guy who had a beef with my sister (she testified at a trial and got him put away for a while) chase me down in my car. I pulled down my friends driveway and got out real quick with my pistol and he got out with one too. Luckily my friend saw what was going on and came out really quick with a shotgun and the guy figured he'd loose that one if he started shooting so he got in his car yelling stuff like "I'll get you later". I know that if I hadn't had a gun then, he'd of shot me. The other time doesn't really count, we had a drunk get in our car at a car wash and refuse to get out. I knew him (not as a friend) and I knew that if we just took him where he wanted to go, it be over with but just in case since he was pretty irate and wanting to fight everybody, I let my friend drive and I got in the back seat and put him up front. I kept a .357 to his seat the whole trip. He got out and never even knew it. My cousin carries a gun after he got carjacked at a gas station. They made him drive around for an hour with a gun to his head constantly telling him they were fixing to kill him. They finally pulled out in a field where they had a buddy waiting and made him lay face down on the ground and then proceeded to put a couple of rounds into the ground beside his head and then started laughing. That sure did "wake him up" as to protecting oneself and flaunting your money by wearing expensive watches and wearing fancy clothes out everywhere you go by youself.
