Thru my exposure in the Signs Mags for which I am eternally greatfull, I have come in contact with some fabulous people. Recently, I have had the previledge of corresponding with a Man who is struggling as a Sign Painter in a very poor country.....Zimbabwe. I'm not going to slam you people with a Sally Struthers kinda pity deal here, I'm just sharing what a meaningfull relationship I have from this individual named Emmanuel Moyo. Money in Africa is $55.00 US to $1.00 Zimbabwe dollar! He sends me a letter with 2 pieces of paper in it, costs him $45.00!! I have sent him a large box with old sign mags and clothing and shoes and Newspapers, calendars, anything from the USA is Gold to these people. We are very excessive here in the US including everything from Cars to Food. If you want to feel good about yourself, drop hima line, send him anything you don't need anymore, you'll have a freind for life!
Here's his address......... EMMANUEL MOYO P.O.BOX 1195 GOKW SOUTH DISTRICT ZIMBABWE AFRICA
Mayor Shortreed, I ask you to Rally the Residents of Letterville and help a fellow Sign Person/Letterhead!!!!
All it takes is a short "Hello" in the form of a letter, he would like that VERY much!
Thanks for listening, now back to BAYWATCH

Mike, is that the complete address? Any zip code, or postal code? Numbers? It sounds like this fellow could use just about anything, but is there anything in particular he is desperate for? Brushes? Liturature? Tools? Regards, Bob K.

Mike, are there things we can't send...like forbidden by the govt? Could brushes with oil in them fly OK? Are there specific things that he would absolutly smile big about? Does he do any gold work in such a poor country?

Sounds like a pretty neat idea. However, don't you dare send him your popcorn coated slippers! Those babies are one-of-a-kind unreplaceable relics and they belong on your feet only.

Hey Rick..I'm not sure 'bout that, I just send it, pack it good and hope it gets there, I would think brushes with oil would be fine. Anything and I mean ANYTHING would make him happy...Send your local Newspapers, he is requesting a "Box" camera, I would think a disposable camera would suffice. I'm not sure if he does Gold er not.
Kurt..the slippers will be screwed to the wall as a Chippewa reminder that it's FRAME & ART not art and frame!
Thanks for your consideration!
