Stan,

I think you mean "arc", in corel seven ther would have been an action called envelope. Once applied you can adjust the arc with nodes to whatever you desire.

You can then apply text to paths or convert the text to curves and then use the envelope tool.

Otherwise an ark must be built using strong lumber, a rather holy order to do so and not to mention a LOT of animals [Smile]

Ps: pack plenty of food and a good umbrella lol

Hi Stan
I just recently learned this myself, but I work in Corel 9, maybe it's the same in Version 7
Draw a circle, type your text, click "Text" and
"Fit to Path", an arrow will appear, click with it on the circle and the text will be bent on the arc. Now if you double click, there will be some
options on the property bar,try it out to get the look you want. In order to get rid of the circle you will have to use the break apart comand.
Sounds complicated but it's easy. Hope it works for you.

I can't tell you how to build an Ark - the instruction book is pretty vague on that, but it takes a LOT of Cubits of Gopher Wood. Get a maritime chart for the mountains of Turkey and good luck. They SAID this would be an El Niño year...

Stan..Lotti is pretty much accurate, "Fitting text to path" is the way to do it. But...Bob is also correct.. Sometimes the fit text to path doesn't work absolutely perfect, usually because the text is too large to fit on the curve, so you have to "tweak" it.

Personally I use "fit to path", break apart, then "break text apart" and manually adjust each individual letter. Unfortunately those options aren't available in version 7. Sorry Old Paint Joe!!! [Razz] [Razz] [Razz] couldn't resist!, buddy!!)

Mike???... Was it Bob Newhart who did the "Ark/cubit" monologue on a "Button Down Mind" album many years back?

RATS Mike!!
Ya beat me to it!

Ge:6:14: Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.
Ge:6:15: And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.
Ge:6:16: A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it.

I think a cubit is estimated to be the length of a man's arm from the elbow to the tip of the index finger (about 18 inches)

And....it don't say that it's on "Mt Ararat"!

I know how to make an arc in Sign Wizard:
Hold down the bottom middle control point and the shift key at the same time and drag the mouse down. Don't know if it works in Corel though.

I had that Bill Cosby record when I was 10. That was great! Good one about stealing baby carriage wheels for making go-carts. Also a great one about shop class & throwing bullets in the incinerator!

Did this wonderful piece of cod scripture make it to your side of the Atlantic? I believe it was written by Keith Waterhouse. My apologies if you've seen it before.

-------------

And the Lord said unto Noah, where is the ark, which I commanded thee to build? And Noah said unto the Lord, Verily, I have had three carpenters off sick. The gopher-wood supplier hath let me down - yea even though the gopher wood hath been on order for nigh upon twelve months. The damp-course specialist hath not turned up. What can I do, O Lord?
And God said unto Noah, I want that ark finished even after seven days and seven nights. And Noah said, It will be so. And it was not so.
And the Lord said unto Noah, What seemeth to be the trouble this time? And Noah said unto the Lord, Mine subcontractor hath gone bankrupt. The pitch which thou commandest me to put on the outside and on the inside of the ark hath not arrived… The glazier departeth on holiday in Majorca - yea, even though I offerest him double time. Shem, my son, who helpeth me on the ark side of the business, hath formed a pop group with his brothers Ham and Japeth. Lord, I am undone.
And God said in his wrath, Noah, do not thou mucketh Me about… And Noah said, Lo, the contract will be fulfilled. And Lo, it was not fulfilled.
And Noah said unto the Lord, The gopher wood is definitely in the warehouse. Verily and the gopher-wood supplier waiteth only upon his servant to find the invoices before he delivereth the gopher wood unto me. And the Lord grew angry and said, Scrubbeth round the gopher wood. What about the animals?... And Noah said, the van cometh on Tuesday; yea and yes, it will be so. And the Lord said unto Noah, how about the unicorns?
And Noah wrung his hands and wept, saying, Lord, Lord, they are a discontinued line. Thou canst not get unicorns for love nor money.
And God said unto Noah, Thou hast not made an ark of gopher wood, nor hast thou lined it with pitch within and without; and of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort hast thou failed to bring into the ark. What sayest thou, Noah? And Noah kissed the earth and said, Lord, Lord, thou knowest in thy wisdom what it is like with delivery dates.
And the Lord in his wisdom said, Noah, my son, I knowest. Why else dost thou think I have caused a flood?

-------------------

I've since found 'scrubbeth round' to be a very useful phrase. [Smile]
