Sounds like he'll being doing the driving tomorrow & the next day!
Have fun & safe travels to you both.
My longest trip I ever drove solo was 900 miles in 18 hours. Stocked up on 5 new cd's, 6-pack of imports on ice, BIG refillable thermos of strong coffee enough of Maui's finest for the occassional attitude adjustment. All non-stop driving except for gas & bathroom stops. Actually took 10 minute break when some other midnight travelers broke out a hacky-sack under the gas station lights.
I must admit I miss long road trips living on a small island. Another reason I love visiting my brother in Seattle & driving to go snowboarding in Whistler, B.C.

Hey Doug, 900 miles in 18 hours = 50 mph avg. which ain't bad for that distance, especially for a non-professional driver That's about what I figure on for estimating driving times. That rate lf travel is not only easy to figure but also gives ya plenty of time for things like an unplanned hackey sack game (I've never played that but I've sure got a weakness for frisbees). It also kinda shades Roger's avg. speed of 40-45 mph
One of my personal best's was calculated for me by a somewhat testy CHP trooper working the southbound Grapevine scale on I-5 north of LA. Using my logbook and his calculator he claimed that my load of Christmas trees had just averaged 87 mph from my last stop for food near Grants Pass, Oregon to his scale. He also concluded that since my truck was still in front of that load....I musta been speedin'!! We had a nice lil' chat that wound up with me gettin' a ticket for $2,800 AND havin' to use another driver to get me & my truck off his scale & outa his sight. I'm still takin' up a collection cuz I really want to send them their money so if y'all would like to chip in.......
Sorry to run on so long but I was just killin' time until A gets there

In a Toyota, Roger? I don't think I could have done any better! And yes, I've not only found that the radio was off....I went ahead & turned it on just to stop the music in my head cuz I couldn't quite remember the lyrics
