As we all know, toddlers are painfully honest about most things and normally at the most inconvenient times. Sometimes the comments are towards people, and sometimes towards other things.
We have this library book with kind of funky art in it. There are splatters all over the pages as part of 'the look' and he thinks the brown splatters are poop and the red ones are blood. Can you imagine what's going through that young mind? "What KIND of book is mom reading to me anyway?!?" LOL!
Innocent enough. Well, today going through the drive through at a local Tim Horton's (donut and coffee joint in Canada), I was placing my order over the speaker. Cody looked straight ahead and noticed an outdoor display picture of a donut hole being smothered with chocolate, and proceeded to YELL "YUUUCK!!!!!" God only knows what he thought was dribbling on that donut, but I was laughing so hard I could barely repeat my order, and was wiping away tears when paying! Can you imagine what the girl taking the order was thinking as she heard it all?
As we drove off, I was still snickering during the 20 min drive home. Cody finally turned to me in disgust and stated, "TOP IT MOM!" (stop it) Needless to say, I didn't stop QUITE then. LOL!
The list goes on and I'm normally in stitches daily over all his 'very verbal observations.' Thank goodness for those hilarious moments or I wouldn't be surviving this toddler stage as well as I am.

With our little Giggle Ridge and the many families we get each day, I hear hundreds of great (and honest) comments from kids.
I get asked a lot of questions each day too. Kids want to know many, many things. Like why is our water blue. (we add dye to it so it is bright blue) I tell them its giggle water and NO they can't drink it.
They want to know why I have paint spots on my pants... How many flowers we have... is the bear (our mascot) real??? Can I start the truck in our courtyard??? (it's concrete and very much cartoon) But that doesn't stop them from cranking furiously on the hand crank to give it a try. Do I LIVE here? (not yet) and a thousand other things.
I love to answer every question in great detail. ANd kids LOVE to be teased... so my answers are as fantastic as Giggle Ridge. Kids and grown up kids too love to believe in make believe.... only at Giggle Ridge its all real. Very real.
We need to take great delight in our precious little ones. To their eyes the world is bright and shiney and full of wondrous things. My world continues to be that way too!
Keep inspiring your mom to laugh Cody! And keep celebrating every second of it Donna!

On a slightly different but related note... An employee of my brother has a son that I' guess is about 6-7 years old, recently he had to do a school project and the subject was Meer (sp?) Cats. The project seemed to be going well, the boy found all sorts of information and was writing it all out over the sheet of card, drawing pictures and colouring it all in. For the centrepiece of the project he drew an airplane, split open down the centre with Meer Cats peering out and running over the fuselage. Seeing as this was not all that long after Sept. 11 his mother imagined the worst, that the boy had been affected by the news coverage etc. When he was asked about the picture he replied "I read about it on the internet Mum, Meer Cats live on open plains" David

My all time favorite was when we took our first granddaughter to our country place and had her meet our friend who showed her his baby chicks. The following day we took her to church and there our friend was passing the collection basket. The little one said that it is a shame that he has to collect money to feed his chicks. She was only 5.
