I had a salesman in the shop the other day selling a brand of vinyl out of france called Hexis.....He told me that they hold about 75 percent of the market in europe and been around for about 17 years.they ship direct from Stockton and LA Calif. the prices were good but has anybody out there been useing the stuff and do they like it?
there HP rated at 8-10 years 15"x50yd black, white, clear $84.50 colors $89.25 and 24"x50yd $132.00-$140.25 and sizes all the way up to 60"
there 5 year intermediate 15"x50yd $42.00 24" $66.00 and all can be dig. printed on they also carry a full line of metallics, translucents and reflective, fluorescents and paint masks

please let me know what you think about its performance if you have used it

thanks

I'm not that familiar with it but, when they say H.P. (high performance) are they also using the word "cast" ?? [Confused]

Some manufacturers and or distributors use the "HP" term in describing "calandered vinyl" that kinda bothers me ? [Eek!]

I bad experience with it 5 years ago, I did a banner with black and green graphics, the green vinyl came off! black stuck though but came off to easily hen I redid it, I was desparate and needed cheap vinyl, lessoned learned, I redid the banner with 3M and the banner is still around. With the left overs I played around with it on a freinds car and it doesn't do compound curves to good, I couldn't recomend it.

on there Hp it did not cast or calendered but there inermediate it did say calendered. I do see on there 5 year metallics that they are cast. I also remember the sales man saying that the adhesives was a solivent base

I have seen and heard this "HP" thing so many times, it really boils down to deception in some cases,. [Eek!]

The person buying the vinyl hears or sees the term "HP" and automatically assumes it is "CAST", then later finds out its "calandered" cause its falling off, shrinking bad, cutting or weeding poorly. [Mad]

Oh well, just gotta be carefull !! [Frown]

I think that the 75% of Vinyl sold in Europe is largely overestimated.
In my country, Switzerland, I'm pretty sure that the number one is Scotchcal and not Hexis. Maybe 5% for Hexis ??? Never tried it, and my providers don't have it. Seems to be more a medium vinyl that an HP.

Hahahahaaa....don't try to BS someone who has acess to this BB! Answers come back from world wide sources!

Hexis does make a paint mask vinyl that sticks very nicely to flat latex wall paint...but fall right off gloss enamel!

I received an e-mail offer for a roll of HP white just at the time I was running short. I went for it and ended up with a roll of Hexis. I would compare it to Oracal 651 in thickness and elasticity. I've been using it rather reluctantly and so far it hasn't bitten me but it hasn't been that long either. In retrospect I wish I would of sent it back. It's not worth the potential liability.

I actually use it all the time. I have a SignJet Pro and so far, cutting that and weeding it has been great.

I also sub out my decal work to someone who uses white Hexis to print on with a Gerber Edge. The images come out great.

Oops...also meant to say, it hasn't fallen off of anything I've applied it to so far. I know that's not specific, but just figure the most common substrates.

75%Market share? I can't think of anyone (Bill Gates?) who has that high a slice of the pie. As for the Cast vs. Calendered, at those prices, if he says "I'm not sure" then you KNOW it's calendered. I checked out their website, and the only thing they claim is the HP stuff is "polymeric"- no mention of cast. Hence I'd be careful... Anytime I saw the new lines of HP calendered vinyls being promo'd they were careful to mention "polymeric", but few mentioned "calendered" (even though they were). Trying to pull a fast one?

Hi Si,
You're right, but usually, you can find three classes of vinyl in catalogs:
1° Cast
2° Polymeric = premium calandered
3° Monomeric or undefined PVC = short term vinyl

So clearly, Hexis is a fine calandered Vinyl but NOT an HP Cast. [Smile]

Well, I have used quite a bit of their material. They are about 10 miles down the road from us. We use primarily the "ecotac" line becuase it's cheap and works perfect for what we need. I did try their "suptac" for some bus lettering and did have some shrinkage problems. The High performance line is definitely not a "cast". If your looking for cast, stick to the 3M's and Averys.
