Hello,
I have been asked to work with a flooring company to design & paint the athletic symbols for gym floors. I THINK that I would like to, but I have no idea what I would be getting into. I said that I would have to research this before I gave an answer. I have never worked on such a large scale. Can anyone help me? Where do I begin? Is there a name for this type of work? Is there special software involved? What materials would I be working with? Are there books on this subject? Does anyone know of a company or someone who does this kind of work? I am open to any and all suggestions, opinions, and ideas. Thanks for any help to be given. Brenda

Brenda...At the top right of this page there is a link called "search" you can use it to check out previously asked questions on a topic. I just used it and came up with the following results. I am sure that you will get a LOT of your info there, as well as any additional info that you get here.

Has paint made for gym floors, and their waterbase inflatable paint would probably stick to rubber floors.

I sub-contract for a local gym floor contractor.
We BOTH use oil based paint for striping and lettering.
His stripes are done with Sherwin Williams Industrial Enamel.
While my "logos" are done in One Shot Lettering Enamel.
My part is projected produced paper patterns.
Layed down with lettering quills and flats.

hope this helps

Afriend of mine who does floors on a regular basis uses "Courtlines" brand(link below). He does logos/lettering and another company does the striping and finish work. Good luck!
