As of today, the plan is to have the Letterville Auction up and running Aug 1st. We've been tweaking the auction program code and changing the instruction text to make the program more suitable for Letterville users.
I hope I'm not letting the cat out of the bag early here, but I'm awful with secrets anyway. We've worked out a deal with GBC Sign Warehouse that will hopefully insure there is always a good assortment of sign related products to bid on. This should result in some great deals for buyers, extra exposure for GBC and some additional income for Letterville. A good deal for all involved!
Barb has been busy locating free servers where you can upload and store photos of your auction items. Someday we may host your photos and websites right here in Letterville, but until then, the best she has found up to this point is www.photoisland.com Try it out.
As for payment, it will be up to each individual seller to make their own payment policy. Where Letterville is concerned, we've looked at various payment options such as PayPal, but a credit card or cheque still appears to work best for us.
So what is it going to cost to sell an item on The Letterville Auction? We're keeping it simple! The Buyer pays the Seller and the Seller pays Letterville a 10% commission. If an item does not sell, there is no charge. Sound fair?
When we give you the green light, you'll be asked to register for the Auction. You'll be able to use an nickname for your bidding, but you must fill in some personal info including your name, address and phone number so that we can contact you.
We're hoping this auction will prove to be fun, as well as an opportunity to make and/or save some money. This will be a great spot to offer used equipment, project panels, books, magazines and other stuff taking up space around the house and shop. Stay tuned!
