OK, I have airbrushed, striped and clearcoated (with catalyst) on some sign blanks. Now I'm bored and want to start over again. Can I just scuff them, spray a base coat and start all over again? Do I need a primer coat or anything else?

I personaly think, however , that the best "practice blank" is a piece of glass. You can go after it with a razor scraper once you get it filled up and it's back to new with no tedious priming and repainting.
You can also stick various colored things (vinyl, cloth, whatever) behind your glass to see your stripes on different colors.
My $1.50

Ben if you used the catalyst in the clear scuf it with a red scotch brite pad and you can shoot on top of it provided it's a practice panel

Buy another blank, even at minimum wage you'll come out ahead...plus there will be no potential for screwups and the aggravation that goes along with them

what ever happened to experience from mistakes? How many of the same questions are you going to ask before you make up your mind to do it your way?

Well, Joey, I pretty much do things my own way, but it never hurts to hear the advice of others, particularly as it concerns technical questions, i.e. chemical reactions. If I needed to drive from here to L.A., I'd tend to ask a few questions before I picked my route.
