I have an image which I can only see parts of. I need to edit the part that I can't see.
In the on-screen digitizeing/editing functions of my SignWizard program, some lines/loops are blue, red, and black. The blue ones and red ones are plot ready but the black ones have breaks. I can close the break in a black line and it will turn blue....closed and ready to plot. However, this image was stacked and some of the parts are invisible on tthe screen (even thought they will plot and even though their control points show). When I turn on the vector/node edit tool, the nodes show up but I still can't see the lines. I broke loops which revealed the stacked (visible and stacked) parts and moved them out of the way but this particular part of the image is not stacked and is still invisible. Any clues?

Just things to try - on the invisible object do a copy and paste to another part of the screen. Lay the object over a colored box and try your layering tools. Try group/ungroup and combine/break apart. Try adding and deleting nodes to see if that changes anything. Try throwing a very thin outline on it and see if the outline is visible. I'm guessing the object has a property different from the other objects. The idea is to fiddle around and figure out the different property. Vic G

Thanks Victor, i already tried breaking into loops, grouping/ungrouping, laying it on another object and cookie cutting. I will try the other things you mentioned though. Thanks

My only suggestion is to add "signwizard" to your topic heading. It all sounds very different to me compared to my sign software & maybe other signwizard users are your best resource, so try to catch their interest in your topic.

Wayne, one more thing to try. Save a copy of the file. Then delete all the objects that are not a problem. Then do a select all to see if it reveals a piece that you don't know about. The other way would be to copy and paste the weird object into a new file and see if it looks and acts the same.

I saved the file, opened it in a new SW window, exported it as an EPS, imported it into Corel9 and I could see everything in normal or wireframe mode. I exported it as an EPS and put it back in SW.same thing. I exported it from Corel as an AI and imported it back into SW but now it's all cut up with vertical lines. I even tried exporting it from Corel as a WMF but that wouldn't import into SW, even though it supports WMF.
I tried deleting everything but the problem part and I exported that (still invisible) and imported that into Corel where it was visible and looked fine.
I guess that I need to do what i should have done from the beginning.....check with tech support. This is an interesting one.

Wayne, Corel's AI export filter breaks up images it cannot handle in one piece by adding vertical lines. You eliminate that problem by using Corel's break apart function before exporting. Also, before you export, select all and do a solid fill on everything. That will force all the lines to export. Don't ask me to explain it. That's just the way it is.
Yep, you got a strange one. Be sure to let us know the fix. Vic G
