At the advice of Rick Sacks I have a class scheduled at JSI next week, but in the meantime...
I am unable to make an arrow using the Arrow Tool. When I click and drag all I get is a horizontal line with a square node at each end and a circle node at the center. The Wing Angle measurement display in Design Central displays no numbers, it's blank. At another design station, I opened Flexi and checked the default settings in Design Central for Arrow and got: Length 1", Wing Angle 90, Cap Length .4, Angle 0, Tail Width .2, Tail Length .6. This worked fine when I clicked and dragged the arrow. I then entered these same measurements into the "problem" Flexi station. No good. Seems the Wing Angle measurement display goes blank. I know this is pretty dramatic for just making an arrow, but I like to get to the bottom of these things. Remember when you'd digitize an arrow on the screen and save it in an arrow file for reuse?!
Thanks everyone, D

The 'disappearing arrow' trick is an intermittent bug in Flexi v6. Here is the procedure to get the arrow tool to behave properly when this occurs:
1. Close Flexi completely (not merely minimize). 2. Click Start > Programs > FlexiSIGN > Clear Preferences. Click Yes to confirm. 3. Launch Flexi as normal. You will notice that the screen interface has returned to default settings. This is because the Clear Preferences is essentially a re-installation of the program, without having to actually reinstall. You will also need to re-configure your plotter/ cutter and large-format printer (if applicable) in Production Manager.
Also note: this bug has been fixed in Flexi 7.

Clear Prefernces does NOT re-install the program! It changes files like CPSI.INI which contain: [Paths] PSRoot=%this%CPSI\ [StartUpParam] PageWidth=130.0 PageHeight=130.0 Resolution=Host AND then puts default info in them. The arrow problem is a poorly written instruction set contained in one of the .dll files. I think it's psih.dll but I'm not sure. Restarting will clear it because your registers will not have instructions in them until you've used the program, so the arrow will work until a different instruction is hanging in a register... E-mail flexi and ask for a fix, if they bought a sign from you, and it failed; then I assume they would want it fixed!

Go with Terry's advice, he is one of the best sign software tech support people I've dealt with in 6 years, & knows what he's talking about.
I'm sure Brian does too, but wait on hold 40 minutes to grumble to Scanvec-Amiable just to be offered to buy the upgrade, or fix it yourself by clearing prefs.

The "disappearing Arrow" trick is sure a headache.
Terry is right about clearing your preferences, but that is a real hassle to have to do that. Wastes about 15 minutes or more of your time. And then the arrow tool just starts acting up again.
Here is a simple work-around until Flexi 7:
Draw a rectangle where you need an arrow. With the rectangle selected, go to "Arrange --Convert to Shape -- Arrow" ---Walla!--you now have an arrow and suddenly your arrow tool in Design Central now works. Go figure. Computers.
