I would think not since the screws I'm using are the teflon coated deck screws. Nothing is suppose to stick to teflon right? But yet in using some to hold up the panels for painting in the shop, some of them got painted. I tried scraping off the paint and it was stuck on there pretty darn good. But I'm wondering how LONG it will stick?

Yep. Paint em all the time. They seem to stay painted...so far.

You are painting signs on deck screws? Kinda small, eh? Sorry, I'm being a smartarse. I'm not sure I understand the question.

I don't know about the teflon coated ... not sure exactly what kind/brand your using. I got loads of the deck-mate and prime-guard ones out there. I usually get the ones that are tan colored and paint them before installation ... so far so good ... I'll let you know how long they last after they start failing

I have painted them also. Now when I use them to attach a sign or panel, I cut 3/4" dia. vinyl "dots" and place the over the countersunk (?spelling) screw head and paint the same color as the background. Makes the screw invisible and protects the panel and screw from moisture!

After installing the sign, siply put a dab of paint on the deck screws! Even if the paint desn't stick to the screw, it will bond to the rest of the paint and "bridge" the screw head!
Werks fer me!

I use vinyl dots alot too, but on this job there are 800 screws!!! I'd rather paint them.
Cam, the screws on this job are quite visible. This is a show piece billboard for me and some of it is viewed rather close. All my competitors signs have rusty dark dots all over them. I want to be a class up on this one.
The deck screws I use are brass with a green teflon coating. Its suppose to help the screw go into pressure treated wood easier, and protect from corrosion. I love these screws because they have a combo square drive / phillips head. I'm a big fan of square drive screws. They'll stay put on the drill driver at any angle, even down. The Canadians came up with a winner there.
